Allow me to go first. If I am suspect of this hiring it has nothing to do with gender, but rather that it feels like everything the Mets do comes back to having ties with CAA, and it’s a former CAA Agent calling the shots. That makes me suspicious of EVERYTHING in Queens. Let’s hear from Mendoza…
What exactly does your role with the Mets look like?
Obviously there’s player development, player evaluation, there’s the technology side, which I’m very passionate about learning. And then just bringing my own insights about what’s happening within the game. That even can go into the sports performance side. But it’s broad, because I’m not there every day. And the days that I am there, I want to learn and understand what they’re doing. Then when my opinion is asked, it could be in a number of categories.
OK time out. Let me zoom in on a sentence again in case you glossed over it….
there’s the technology side, which I’m very passionate about learning.
Which I’m very passionate about learning.
Which I’m very passionate about LEARNING.
LEARNING.
And let’s keep reading the article.
And the days that I am there, I want to learn and understand what they’re doing.
Learn. They.
But then there’s Al Leiter, who works for MLB Network. He got hired by the Mets literally the day before me, No one said a word.
Well one blog did. So thank you for bringing that up before someone thinks this post has something to do with gender and not with the GM. If you automatically don’t like her because she’s a woman you’re a jerk. If you want to ask questions about brining in CAA clients I think that’s totally fair.
I wish Mendoza the best. I’m even ready to shake up the Mets TV booth – I’d tune in for some Wayne, Jessica and Keith in 2020.
