More fun from the archives…today it’s the Chicago Tribune speaking with 40 year old Tom Seaver.
‘I think I can win a minimum of 15 games this year. I`m not a pitcher who can throw the ball by you anymore, but I think I`m a better pitcher than ever. I enjoy pitching more than ever because I know more about it than 12 years ago when I was throwing harder.”
Seaver would actually win 16! Coming off 1984’s 15-11.
Hard not to think about what it might have been like having Tom still in Queens through 1986 – and yes I get that maybe if Tom is around then the Mets don’t start a 19 year old in the rotation.
