What Mets fans talk about when not talking about the actual games.

Hello valued readers! I shook loose some $40 tickets for Saturday’s Queens Baseball Convention.
Now I wasn’t able to include autograph access for you at that price (if you want that, check out the $55 package) but if you wanna hang and hit the panels, $40 it is.
Panels include
…the always awesome Uni Watch Panel
…my Meet the Mets Executives panel where I’m gonna ask about those pesky fees
…the Bobby Valentine Panel (no autograph as part of the $40 package)
…the Tim Teufel Panel (same thing, no autograph in the $40 package)
…the Tom Seaver thing Greg Prince is working on
…the Gil Hodges Award
…the jersey parade
and general hanging out with Mr. Met, Sandy the Seagull, and your fellow fans.
Come on down Saturday and hang. No blizzards!
Mark Simon put this on my radar. One of the great Mets curiosities of my youth – the guy who started in RF on Opening Day 1983 (with Seaver on the mound don’t forget, and I was there) and then never appeared again. Number 5 on the field and number one in your hearts…Mike Howard!
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, he’s one of only three players since the end of World War II whose last major league game was as a starter in his team’s opening game
The Mets are going to have to officially announce new caps or something because the bored populace has decided the below is a controversy. MLB Network did a list of best pitchers, so Noah made his own, and listed the order as…
OK that’s funny, especially adding Bartolo “I led the team in wins but nobody noticed” Colon. I saw the list yesterday, smiled and moved on.
But today, again SLOW NEWS WEEK BETWEEN TRUMP AND SUPER BOWL, the newspapers are bored and this has somehow turned into that Noah has ranked deGrom ahead of Matt Harvey. I guess he also has “ranked” Wheeler ahead if Familia.
Anyways, this is nothing. Announce the caps Mets and make this go away. Maybe deGrom can be ticked that Noah thinks he’s better.
Short answer for those pressed for time: No.
So here’s an interesting read. To me, of course Santana is not a Hall of Famer, but the article makes some favorable comparisons to Sandy Koufax!
Yes, Sandy Koufax! If it turns out we had Koufax and destroyed his shoulder so we could get a hashtag and some t-shirts – wow man that was pretty stupid. (I know, I know, the no-hitter had nothing to do with Santana never pitching again, it was because someone stepped on his foot. Is his foot better yet?)
Anyway, I am in no way putting Santana down, and recently said on the podcast that the penultimate game of 2008 was the greatest pitching performance in Mets history – but at 139 wins I’m gonna need this comeback to be good for 161 wins before we start talking Hall. At least 61 wins if I want to grade on a 21st Century curve.
The 2018 Baseball Hall of Fame ballot will include some interesting new names and cases, such as Chipper Jones and Jim Thome. Former Minnesota Twins and New York Mets left-hander Johan Santana is also currently slated to be among that group. As we first learned in November and FanRag Sports’ Jon Heyman
