So weird since most of us can clearly remember the day David arrived.

WRIGHT ON THE METS RBI RECORD: David Wright has one RBI
in five of his six starts this year, giving him 730 for his career…
Darryl Strawberry holds the franchise record with 733 RBI…
Colorado’s Todd Helton is the only active player who leads his
team’s all-time RBI list…Entering tonight, Helton has 1,316 RBI.

 

WRIGHT’S RETURN: David Wright returned to the lineup Saturday
from a fractured pinky and has gone 6-12 (.500) with a solo home run
in his last three games, including 1-3 last night…The Mets are 6-1
when Wright starts this year, suffering their first loss on
Sunday at Philadelphia…Overall, Wright is hitting .542 (13-24) with
two home runs and five RBI…Among players with 25 or more
plate appearance, Wright leads the majors with his .542 batting
average …Matt Kemp is second (.487, 19-39)…The Mets third
baseman also leads the majors with a .600 on-base percentage.

 

THIS DATE IN METS HISTORY: Shea Stadium opens its doors for
the first time as 48,736 fans watch Pittsburgh edge the Mets, 4-3 on
April 17, 1964…Willie Stargell’s home run off Jack Fisher in the

I personally found the second design underwhelming and threw out there on twitter (@metspolice) that perhaps the Mets would benefit from Darren’s design skills.

Anyways, I don’t want to give away Darren’s hand…here’s an excerpt and I hope you’ll read the entire piece and click through to see what he would have done with the Buddy the Dog tee.

I’d like to see this be a success for the team. Attendance is down and anything to get more butts in the seats is a great idea. They just need to get someone behind the graphics that has a better feel as to what the fans want. Shirt #2 was released today. It’s a slightly better effort but again, I don’t think anyone is dying for one.

According to a team source, the Mets will acknowledge Reyes’ nine years in New York with a video tribute on April 24, before the shortstop’s Citi Field unveiling as a Miami Marlin. That game opens a three-game series.
