Your 2012 Citi Field Mets beer list

Last night I had the extreme pleasure of being invited to Citi Field to sample the “All Star Dining Line-up” of food available at the stadium in ’12.

I will be posting pictures over the next few days and into next week (I am taking a family vacation then so a pre-written generic post about a chicken sandwich goes a long way, and yes I will be at Opening Day – come on.)

This morning I’m working off my iPhone which isn’t my favorite way to process photo-based posts but I’m out of time in real life so I’ll do the best I can.

Enough pre-amble, here’s what you have wanted to know all off-season: the 2012 beer list.

@ceetar the beer-snobbiest of the bloggers was at the event and seemed pleased with the list. I’m sure he will write something up and I will link to his post later.

As for me, I like a good beer (Mets Police advocates having zero to two beers max, not nine. You should behave like a civilized human. Feel free to spend that extra cash on blue based merch). Just the Sam Adams Seasonal will get me through the summer, but the Blue Moon and Six Point also catch my eye.

Much more to come.

April 2013 – thanks to Deadspin for linking to this post! And while I have your attention, my eBook is called Send The Beer Guy (I am an ex-vendor) and only $4.

I will have some fun posts tomorrow for you but in the meantime here’s a snazzy 50th anniversary cup.

Mets to honor Gary Carter on Opening Day

Posted from the 7 train! Technology rules.

METS TO HONOR GARY CARTER ON OPENING DAY,
THURSDAY, APRIL 5 AT CITI FIELD

Carter Family to Participate in a Special Pre-Game Ceremony

FLUSHING, N.Y., March 26, 2012 – The New York Mets will honor the memory of Gary Carter on Opening Day, Thursday, April 5 at Citi Field with his family participating in a special pre-game ceremony prior to the season’s opener against the Atlanta Braves at 1:10 p.m. Carter passed away February 16 after a courageous 10-month battle with brain cancer.

Gary’s wife, Sandy, son, D.J., and daughters, Kimmy and Christy, and their families will be on the field during a moment of silence for their father and for the ceremonial first pitch.

“We are thrilled that the Carters will be with us,” said Mets COO Jeff Wilpon. “On Opening Day, Mets fans will have the chance to pay their respects and remember all of his accomplishments.”

Carter was acquired by the Mets from the Montreal Expos for four players in December, 1984. Two years later, he helped direct the team’s young pitching staff to a World Championship. Gary was inducted into the Mets Hall of Fame in 2001 and the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003.

“Our family is so honored to be part of the Mets’ Opening Day at Citi Field,” said Sandy Carter. “It will be an incredible experience for us to celebrate Gary’s legacy by having our family throw out the first pitch. The Mets and the fans of New York always had a special place in Gary’s heart and that admiration will live on in our hearts for years to come. Thanks to the Wilpon family and the entire Mets organization for making this possible.”

Mets players are wearing a patch on their right sleeve featuring a black home plate with “KID 8” in white lettering to honor Carter during the 2012 season.

Will the Mets wear these black jackets on the road?

Good catch and observation by Steve D.  We all love the traditional blue dugout jackets, but notice the description for this item.  will the Mets wear these on the road sometimes, all the time, never?

The expectation is that the hybrid cap is dead, and the black jersey will make occasional appearances (presumably with the black cap).  Time will tell but hopefully All Hail Kevin Kierst!
