Mets 2008 World Series Ticket

Chris who helps us out over on Sportspolice.com found this lil gem over on ebay. Nice looking ticket. Hopefully in the near future we can actually get to use the tickets for the World Series and not have to sell them on ebay as a “cool” collectors type item.

And when I say “cool” I mean makes me angry to look at it.

Thank You Call from the Mets

I am sitting here at work minding my own business, when I get a call from a 718-507 number. Lo and behold it was Number 5 of the New York Mets was on the phone. Okay it wasn’t really him live.
It was a David Wright Cylon, I mean robo call. I was thanked for renewing my ticket plan and for being a loyal fan. Robo Wright also wished me happy holidays. Now I am hearing Terry Collins called some people who renewed also.
Who did anyone else get a cylon call from?

And yes Shannon, We shall step up our technology.

Mets Coat Drive

I happened to be off from work today so I went to Citi Field to drop of some coats I have and don’t use. I missed the Mets Players showing up at 11 am due to some things I had to do. I went back later on in the afternoon to snap some pics for here and I ran into Randy from Readtheapple.com.

We walked around the Team Store for a while and when we were about to leave we saw Mr. Met loading up some of the coats in to the back of a truck. I could of sworn I had seen Ollie Perez’s head sticking out of one of them.

Photos and recap of Mets MVP reception

Jimmy the Mets fan with the major hook-up.  Here’s Jimmy:

Hats off to the Mets. They could have given me Luis Hernandez, Lucas Duda and a bag of potato chips. They could have done nothing, the way they used to.

Instead the season ticket holder reception had real food, real drinks, real beer and wine and as much of it as you wanted.

David Wright, Jason Bay, Ike Davis, Carlos Beltran, Terry Collins and Sandy Alderson milled around for a while taking pictures and trying to look happy to be there.

A Q&A session followed with Ron Darling moderating. Most of the questions were of the softball variety and elicited the predictable athlete speak cliche answers.

Most of the things said weren’t news.   We’ve heard them before. More than once.  However a few things did stand out in my mind.

– In Jason Bay’s answer to some inane “Is Jose Reyes important to the team?” question,  Bay says “I wish he would get a haircut”. At that point, Darling pipes up (while looking directly at Alderson), “And lose the do-rag”.  Interesting.

– Poor David Wright. The next interesting thing he says will be the first. His answers were a snooze fest. Nice guy. Good player. Not a leader.

– Sandy Alderson stood out. It’s a breath of fresh air to have a general manager who has a vision and can actually articulate it.

– I was surprised by the love fest for Carlos Beltran. First of all, it was a little surprising that he would even be there. I found it a little odd that the same fans who bellyache about him would be feeding him softball questions and applauding the answers.

I had a minute to speak with Sandy Alderson. I complimented him on keeping his cool with Mike Francesca yesterday. He said “They told me to go to the studio in person rather than call in. He might take it easier in me.” So much for that.  Alderson added “He kept repeating himself”. No kidding.

Pics after the jump…not our best formatting job…slammed with real life.  Thanks to Jimmy for sending and Media Goon for working on most of this post.
