Mets to Host Hispanic Heritage Night

The New York Mets today announced they will host Hispanic Heritage Night Presented by Goya this Friday, September 17 when the Mets play the Atlanta Braves at 7:10 p.m. at Citi Field.

Goya is going to donate 20,000 pounds of food to City Harvest. If the one thing the Mets as an organization gets right is their charity work.

There will be a mariachi band to greet fans at the Jackie Robinson Rotunda.

K-Company from the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club will entertain fans with a pre-game dance performance.

Also, Bocatabu, a Latino pop-rock group, will also play pre-game in celebration of Hispanic culture.

Mets players will also wear “Los Mets” jerseys. I can see Shannon right now gritting his teeth in anger over the “Los” Mets. I think he might hate them more then he hates the black jerseys. Would be cool to see his head explode if they wear black Los Mets jerseys though.

Also on hand will be, Tony Unanue from Goya Foods will throw out the ceremonial first pitch, and Telemundo’s Veronica Contreras will make public address announcements in Spanish throughout the game.

Megdal to Accept Fans Nomination For Mets GM

By:Media Goon

This is from a press release from Mr.Megdal.

After receiving thousands of votes over the course of 18 grueling primaries at blogs dedicated to the Mets around the Internet, Howard Megdal will graciously accept the nomination of New York Mets fans to be the next General Manager at 6:15 PM Thursday night in Parking Lot E at Citi Field.

Megdal won every primary he entered, with a vote share of 65 percent or greater in 17 of the 18 contests, and averaged a vote share of greater than 74 percent. Considering that Metsblog currently rates the fan confidence rating in the team at 9 percent, there can be no greater sign that Fred and Jeff Wilpon are listening to the wishes of the fans than by making Howard Megdal the next General Manager of the New York Mets.

Bay Done For Season

By Media Goon

It seems that Jerry Manuel is saying Jason Bay is done for the season. Well at least we don’t have to worry about the four players for three spots in the outfield for the rest of the year.

You can get the whole story from Section 518. That is where I found it. Honor among bloggers as Shannon would say.

*UPDATE*

Now it is being reported that Jerry Manuel is going back on what he said originally about Bay being out for season.

Can someone in the Mets organization please check the medical staff’s credentials again?

And, can the Mets stop playing the game of telephone with what info is given to even their manager?
