A reader named Joe wrote a letter to the Mets Organization and he sent me over a copy of it. I know he isn’t the only fan who feels this way…
Dear Mets Organization,
I watched Tom Seaver get very little run support in his entire Mets career. He pitched in tough luck. He got many low scoring no decisions. He received many tough losses that he pitched great, but the Mets did not score many runs in the games. It was a shame.
The same thing will now happen with these great young pitchers because the Wilpons can’t or won’t spend the money for hitting. I am sure the Wilpons are nice people, but they have no business owning an MLB franchise because they obviously can’t afford it.
Sandy has said if the fans come back the Mets will spend money and raise payroll. I am sure he believed that, but he works for the Wilpons who can’t afford to own an MLB franchise.
The Wilpons did this to themselves. They are smart men. They should have known Madoff was too good to be true. Their greed blinded their common sense. They should gracefully bow out and sell the team. Fred probably hated O’malley when the Dodgers left Brooklyn, but Fred does not realize he will go down in history as a despised man too. I don’t think he knows the level of disdain people have for him and his son. I hear it almost every day from working with the general public. Fred is in an ivory tower.
Lets go Nationals and Murphy! I can’t wait for Murphy to haunt the Mets! Walker played in a band box. He will not do well in Citi. Murphy was a proven player in New York. Why Sandy and crew did not like him is beyond me. But most of their judgement speaks for its self. For the most part their track record is horrible. Omar’s players brought the Mets to the playoffs.
They made fools of themselves with Zobrist. They were like teenage boys trying to woo a girl they were never going to have no matter what they did.
