Mets Answer Questions About Foo Fighters Pre Sale

B3DCsytIIAA3T_H

Hey Guys. I am a huge Foo Fighters fan and also a Twenty Game Placeholder(I even upgraded my seats for next season), so the line up for the pre sale at Citifield today really irked me. One of the benefits of being a plan holder is that we are supposed to get pre sales to non baseball events first. I got in touch with my ticket rep(who is a straight shooter), and he let me know that the pre sale was being run by the FOO FIGHTERS and not the Mets and they were just a limited number. He assured me there will still be good tickets for the plan holders.

Today I jumped in with the conversation on twitter about it after @citifieldevents tweeted out a picture of the line waiting for the box office to open. Well, after a few tweets I got a call from the Mets. Jason Velez a ticket account exec who asked me if we could chat and clear up a few things. Jason said the Foo Fighters rented out Citi Field and part of the contract was that they would be able to carve out a LIMITED NUMBER of tickets to do their own pre sale that had nothing to do with the Mets, There is the BEAT THE BOTS promotion that the FOO FIGHTERS are doing because last year at Wrigley fans got locked out of buying tickets and it seemed like they were mostly bought buy ticket brokers, hence the line up outdoors instead of buying online.

I told him I get that, but why wasn’t that conveyed to the plan holders. I said before the vague press release was sent out and before cit field events started tweeting about it, there should have been contact to the plan holders that this pre sale does not effect the pre sale for plan holders and that there would only be a LIMITED NUMBER of tickets set aside for the Foo Fighter’s special walk up pre sale. Jason agreed and he even said that is why they are calling to touch base with plan holders to let them know what is going on. I told him it was such a Mets type thing to do. Hey guys we got the Foo Fighters but we haven’t thought this out too well on how to reach out to our fans. We countered back and forth with some points and the agreement was the Mets have realized they have not handled this well. I told Jason that this is one of the reasons they have lost plan holders is because the Mets seem not to care about us(see past metspolice posts from Shannon). Jason has assured me that there will still be great seats for the pre sale on Dec 1st for plan holders. Now Jason didn’t give me that he was giving me the corporate lines and seemed really concerned about how they can do things like this better. Let’s see how this turns out Dec 1.

Also Jason said I could put out his twitter handle if anyone has questions about this. Don’t be too hard on him. Here it is @JasonV_NYMETS

Citi Field’s New Dimensions

Meh- just means other teams can still hit more home runs then the Mets

FLUSHING, N.Y., November 18, 2014 – The New York Mets today announced they are moving in portions of the outfield wall at Citi Field. The changes affected are located in center to right field ranging from three to 11 feet. All other dimensions will remain the same.

“These modifications are a refinement of previous changes made to the Citi Field fences and continue to be fair to both pitchers and hitters,” said Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson. “A lot of analysis went into this decision. We believe these modifications will increase the number of home runs without adversely affecting our pitchers.”

RHP JACOB deGROM NAMED NL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

FLUSHING, N.Y., November 10, 2014 – Mets righthanded pitcher Jacob deGrom was named the 2014 National League Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA) tonight.

DeGrom, 26, made 22 starts and won the NL Rookie Triple Crown leading NL rookies in strikeouts (144), ERA (2.69) and tying for the league lead with nine wins.

“I’m truly honored to receive this award and would like to thank the BBWAA,” said deGrom. “I wouldn’t have won if it wasn’t for the support of my teammates. I’m already looking forward to 2015 and helping the Mets reach the postseason.”

“His journey has been unbelievable,” said Mets Manager Terry Collins. “When we promoted him he was supposed to go to the bullpen but an injury forced him into the rotation. This award speaks to Jacob’s determination and desire to succeed.”

DeGrom is the fifth Mets player to win Rookie of the Year honors. Tom Seaver (1967), Jon Matlack (1972), Darryl Strawberry (1983) and Dwight Gooden (1984) are the others.

“I was fortunate enough to see him pitch a few times at Citi Field,” said Gooden. “What impressed me the most was that every time he got into a tough situation he always made the pitch he needed to get out of the jam. I love the way he competes.”

DeGrom tied the modern-era major league record with eight consecutive strikeouts to begin his start on September 15 vs. Miami and finished with four double-digit strikeout games during the season. The Mets righthander also established a rookie franchise-record, hurling 67.1 innings from June 5-August 7 without allowing a home run.

“When I saw that he had struck out eight straight I just said to myself ‘Wow, this guy almost broke my record and all of his were to start the game,’” said Seaver, who holds the major league record with 10 straight strikeouts at any point during a game. “That’s impressive. I made sure to find his boxscore whenever he pitched.”

DeGrom was named the NL Rookie of the Month for July and for September by Major League Baseball and went 6-1 with a 2.16 ERA (16 earned runs/66.2 innings) in 10 starts after the All-Star break.

“He is enjoyable to catch because he is always around the strike zone,” said catcher Travis d’Arnaud. “I just hold up my glove and he hits the mitt. He never gets rattled no matter the situation. He’s just going to get better and better.”

DeGrom was previously named the Sporting News NL Rookie of the Year and the National League Outstanding Rookie by the Major League Baseball Players Association.

.@mets Need New Pre/Post Game Reporter

Yeah this is a few days old. Seems that WOR is not bringing back Seth Everett next season. There was an ad placed looking for someone with professional on air experience to fill his role. Honestly, I didn’t listed to his pre or post game segments and I probably won’t listen to whoever replaces him. Not that it is a knock on him, just never have listened to them.
