Sad news this morning as longtime ABC announcer Jim McKay passed away at age 86.
Growing up McKay’s voice meant 2 things to me – Wide World of Sports (who will ever forget “The thrill of victory, and the agony of defeat”), and the Olympics. McKay covered a dozen Olympic games, including the winter games of 2002 when ABC “leant” him to NBC for their coverage (one of the cooler things done on TV in the last decade).

The winner of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness already has a syndication deal reportedly worth more than $50 million. Once he is retired from the track, he likely will command a stud fee of $100,000 for at least two years.

The aim of this blog is to put a spotlight on players and teams that play the game the “right way” and respect the traditions of the game of baseball. I like guys and hustle and give 100% day in and day out. I also realize that many players are great people and will attempt to give due respect for their humanitarian efforts off the field.
Now this should be interesting…one SS was benched for lack of hustle and pouted for a year…let’s see how the MVP reacts.
