This was a good discussion…a letter came in wondering how we (me and you I guess) could be big Mets fans when all we do is complain. Â My response, and then a guest column from Adam.
I decided to try to get tickets this morning (as an exercise) since I have this whole blog thing going.
I found the server responded very quickly and it was very easy to connect. Â Read into that whatever you will, I’m going to stay positive and assume the Mets have an awesome infrastructure that deftly handles high ticket demand.
Just poking around:
I was able to get seats in the Promenade Infield for the opener. Â Earlier in the week I was unsuccessful. Â I may stink at the internet, or someone’s credit card canceled, or they released more tickets. Â I have no idea. Â I’m just saying you may want to try since we’ve all collectively decided that Promenade Infield offers the best relative value.
I decided to look at other big games. Â Since the Yankees games are not part of this I couldn’t think of any big games, so I looked at August 1st. Â That game looks like it is selling pretty well, I was only offered seats way out in left field.

These are from a little before my time, if I have my facts right the Mets wore these a few times in 1976. Â I have never seen one in person and game footage seems rare.
I’m adding pillbox caps to the list of things I will bring back when I finally own the Mets. Â Expect Pillbox Cap day, Lee Mazzilli poster night II and of course Mettle the Mule’s return.

The New York Times reports this morning, well after Mets Police reported it in a post we’re sorry we missed, that the Mets are now selling those tickets with a warning. “View: Limited portions of the playing field may not be visible from this seat location.â€
It’s nice to see this stuff getting out in the mainstream. Â I still would like to see an updated quote from Dave Howard.
