If The Yankees Are Rained Out Monday…

New Stadium Insider has a good breakdown of scenarios should today’s Yankees game be rained out.  Since I believe in honor among bloggers (there’s excerpts and then there’s link-stealing) rather than steal their answer, I’ll invite you to go read here where you’ll find a well reasoned answer.

Empty Seats Surprising? Mets and Yankees not selling out

This was a nice pleasant Sunday afternoon.  The Mets and Yankees both played home games in their new stadiums.

The announced (aka paid) attendance at both parks?

The Yankees announced 43,068 in a stadium that seats 51,800. (capacity of 52,235 with the yet to be marketed standing room.)

In Flushing, the Mets drew 36,124 to their building. The Mets website lists Citi Field as having a 45,000 capacity including standing room.  They have yet to sell standing room seats, so the more accurate number for today would be more like 42,000.

Is it the economy?  The disappointing 2008 results for both teams?   Overpriced seats?

We’ll see what happens when school lets out.

Most Popular On Mets Police (April 19 Edition)

All I can say is wow.   My fellow Mets Policemen and I are truly honored that so many have visited metspolice.com over the last week.  Thank you thank you thank you, and it’s been great being able to create a home for people who (a) want the Mets to honor the Mets, (b) hate obstructed views and (c) hate the black uniforms.

Every Sunday I recap the most popular articles on the site, and mix in a few things that I think went underloved.  Obstructed views at Citi Field far and away dominates, and I’ll share those links at the end.   First, a few other stories of note:

Howie Rose ripped the black uniforms on the air Saturday.

Mike Vaccaro ripped the Mets for not having enough Mets stuff at the new place.

In the Bronx, so far nobody disagrees with my review that Yankee Stadium is like The Phantom Menace.   Some more not-great reviews:  here  or here or here.

New Stadium Insider tells you what you need to know about your first trip to the Bronx.

Does the new Yankee Stadium have a design flaw?   What about all those empty seats?

Honestly, I thought more people should have read what Babe Ruth’s family has to say about the new Yankee Stadium.  Where’s the statue of the Babe?

I also enjoy my New York Giants hoax story but I guess nobody else does.

Why did Piazza leave early?   Did he not want to talk about the Forbidden Subject?

Finally, we’ve updated the collection of Citi Field pictures (including obstructed views) which contains links to many of the most popular articles including these:

NEW:  Obstructed views in Section 521

NEW:  Obstructed views in Section 503

NEW:  Obstructed views in Section 533

NEW:  Misnumbered seats in Section 517

NEW:  Annoying View from Section 516

NEW:  Mets VP David Howard doesn’t believe there are obstructed views.

NEW:  What to do if your seats are obstructed

Check out the Unofficial Uncensored Guide To Citi Field.

Send us your photos of obstructed views (Citi or Yankee) to [email protected]

We also welcome guest columns, so if you’re fired up about something and have a couple of paragraphs and don’t have a blog, email me at [email protected]     I’ll be happy to share your thoughts, even if you think we’re a bunch of morons and want to disagree….the discussion is what’s important.  Right David Howard?
