Howie Rose starting to lose it over Mets uniform choices

I think the Mets are on a mission to make everyone just stop caring.  I know I have.  You know how much I care about SNY not being on YTTV?  Not at all.  After last year’s combined no-hitter I watched the next day, then realized baseball is so boring – and didn’t watch again until the night the Six Padres Fans chased the t-shirt army out of Citi Field (hey it was cold and they had to work the next day.  Loyal until the water is bad. I get it.)

This year I watched Opening Day and during Game 2 I realized I was bored, and really don’t enjoy Gary Cohen’s company (he just isn’t fun) and turned it off and haven’t looked back.

But that’s me.  They’d never start to lose someone like Howie Rose, right?

In other news, what the heck is this lineup?  It seems to me that they are tanking to protect the draft pick.  The Wilpons are a joke. I can’t wait until they are gone and we get a cool billionaire who is willing to field a competitive team instead of focusing on developing real estate on 126th street.  Sell The Team!

The Mets are surveying the season ticket holders

In a new survey, the Mets are asking the season ticket holders questions like What day are you most (or least) likely to use your tickets…..do giveaways matter to you….and paraphrasing here, if we gave stuff away on the days you don’t like attending, would you attend more?

For the most part it’s boring but I found this slide the most interesting.

I can’t imagine why anyone would want tickets to 81 baseball games.  It only makes sense to me if you are a company using them to wine and dine clients….or maybe you’re so rich that a 5 figure spend is nothing to you.  Just the idea of having to do anything every other day for 6 months seems like a burden to me.

Anyway the Mets are not committed to winning championships, I don’t feel welcomed at games, I do have an emotional connection, the organization is not heading in the right direction, and the whole thing seems to be about opening a casino anyway.

….

In other news, yes Pete Alonso had a big game.  TWO home runs.  He will have another big game this week, because that’s how he plays. That stat line will look good in the end.   The Mets have lost 6 of 7, and I believe Pete started all 7 games.  Streaky doesn’t win championships.  Trade Pete.  Do it, while we still have time.

Why I say the Mets will retire David Wright’s #5 next year to sell tickets

Borrowing a thought here from @Desko2000 on twitter…..

Will the Mets retire David Wright’s #5 next year to sell tickets?

I am going to guess YES.

Right now, I have no idea what the Mets could even think about marketing for 2024.  Sure, there’s NEW FREE AGENT SIGNING but there really aren’t any exciting free agents to be had.

There could be SURPRISE TRADE but if you are rebuilding, you’re probably trading away names not the new kids you just acquired.

So, what’s left?   David Wright.  It will speak to a certain age fan, one that right now is aging into their disposable income phase.  The guy deserves it.  It makes sense.  And it’s probably the only game anyone is going to care about next summer.

So I am going to say it will happen.  Thoughts?
