Let’s see what people are wearing when they leave Citi Field Early because the Mets are losing

It’s been a while since I checked in to see what kinds of styles fan are wearing when leaving Mets games early, such as the playoff game against the Padres.  You want to look stylish for those first 7 or so innings before yo remember that it’s cold or you have to work tomorrow or how the buzz was off once the Braves won the division.  Whatever your reason for letting Padres fans take over Citi Field, you want to look sharp for those first few innings – and what better way than to pretend you’re wearing the logo for the New York Post or something.

You will find this and other fine t-shirts at Local T-Shirt Retailer.  (snark aside, T-Shirt Guys tees are SUPER comfortable and last.  Except for the “Take Back NY” one that my wife ruined in the wash.

America’s VetDogs Partners with Amazin’ Mets Foundation to Raise Second Future Service Dog

New York Mets raise their second service dog for a U.S. Veteran or First Responder with disabilities

Amazin’ Mets Foundation has donated $100,000 to America’s VetDogs to date

America’s VetDogs, a New York-based national nonprofit that provides specially trained service dogs to veterans and first responders with disabilities, and the Amazin’ Mets Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the New York Mets, are thrilled to announce they will co-raise a future service dog for a United States veteran or first responder with disabilities. The Amazin’ Mets Foundation has donated $100,000 to America’s VetDogs to date.

The New York Mets were the first-ever MLB team to raise a future service dog. The new Amazin’ Mets Foundation Pup is a handsome 11-week-old, male, black Labrador Retriever, who will undergo basic training and socialization with the Amazin’ Mets Foundation staff and the New York Mets players and fans for the next 16 to 18 months. The pup will have a home in the Mets front office and attend select events at Citi Field to expose him to various environments that will help mold him into a confident and calm future service dog. Fans can follow the pup on Instagram, Twitter, and Tik Tok at@MetsVetDog to stay up to date on his training and local appearances.

“Service dogs can provide companionship, hope, joy, and a life-changing experience for our veterans and first responders,” said Alex Cohen, President of the Amazin’ Mets Foundation and New York Mets Owner. “We are proud to partner with America’s VetDogs to train another future service dog at Citi Field.”

Shea, the first future service dog to be sponsored by the Amazin’ Mets Foundation, has now returned to America’s VetDogs campus in Smithtown, NY to begin formal training. In formal training, Shea will work daily with a Certified Service Dog Instructor and learn skills that will eventually assist in mitigating his future veteran or first responder’s disabilities.

“America’s VetDogs is truly privileged to have such a great partner in Alex Cohen and the Amazin’ Mets Foundation. They are so extremely dedicated to supporting our nation’s veterans and first responders,” said John Miller, president & CEO of America’s VetDogs. “The Mets’ front office staff, players and fans have genuinely fallen in love with Shea and are loyal in following his journey and supporting our mission; I know that the new team pup will quickly follow suit as he is introduced to his new home at Citi Field.”

Fans will have a chance to help name the new Mets Vet Dog by voting for their preferred name via a poll on the @Mets Twitter account. Voting will run from Thursday, June 8 through Sunday, June 11 and the winner will be announced Monday, June 12.

NJ.com notices Steve Cohen is only around when things are going well

I have been saying this for a few years already, but blah blah I am old and “too negative” (although not negative enough, I could have had Frank the Tank’s Barstool money if only I’d missed a train).

Anyway, NJ.com has noticed what I have been saying for YEARS

The New York Mets are in a funk and the team’s owner, Steve Cohen, is nowhere to be found.

Don’t think Chris “Mad Dog” Russo hasn’t noticed, either. With the Mets in a four-game losing streak — their longest skid of the season — the bombastic hot take-machine is questioning Cohen’s loyalty.

“First off, let’s get rid of one of these myths, that Steve Cohen, growing up in Long Island had Ed Kranepool pictures in his bedroom,” Russo said on ESPN’s “First Take” on Tuesday. “No, he didn’t. He’s the owner. He owns a fortune. He was a Yankee fan! He loved the Yankees! He didn’t love the Mets. The Mets were for sale, and now he’s got his Mets hat on and he’s Mr. Met? Nonsense!”

Enjoy!

It appears to me Steve hasn’t tweeted since May 27th but I may be wrong.

Jacob deGrom and throwing 100mph in the spring

Poor Jacob deGrom needing TJ Surgery again.

Long time readers know how I jumped up and down about the Mets letting deGrom throw 100 in the Spring.  Let’s visit the Dallas Morning News from  March 25th:

DeGrom made his second start of spring training on Saturday, just as camp was closing for good. And it was just as good as the first one: Flashing 100 mph heat and 92 mph sliders, he struck out six in 3.2 scoreless innings.

Well, yeah.  Don’t do that.

I will once again refer everyone to the 2017 article in the New York Times titled: Seeing Noah Syndergaard’s Injury Coming at 100 M.P.H.   The topic, throwing 100mph.

Tom House, the former pitcher and coach who runs the National Pitching Association in California, told Bob Klapisch of The Bergen Record in February: “Unfortunately, this is an injury waiting to happen by the second week of June. Unless you’re picking up a ball while you’re getting stronger, you’re just adding muscle that doesn’t know how to throw. It’s unskilled muscle.”

I saw one blogger refer to deGrom as an All Time Great.  Not one of the better Mets…an All Time Great.   Guys, relax.  deGrom was really good for a few seasons.  So were a lot of guys.  He’s someone that you can welcome back to the CasinoDome in the 2030s….but he’s not an All Time Great.  That’s insane.

For reference, these were the pitchers on the All Century Team, and even Tom Seaver isn’t on this list:

Nolan Ryan
Sandy Koufax
Cy Young
Roger Clemens (interestingly not in the Hall of Fame!)
Bob Gibson
Walter Johnson.
Warren Spahn
Christy Mathewson
Lefty Grove

I’m not sure who you’re bouncing to get deGrom on that list….and that list has no relievers btw….

deGrom is signed for 5 years and $185,000,000.  He is 2-0 with a 2.67 ERA in 6 games with Texas.  He made 11 starts in 2022 and 15 in 2021.

On March 7 of 2021, MetsPolice.com published an article titled The Mets will break Jacob deGrom letting him throw 100 in March

Mets Fans and Main Stream Media turning on Francisco Lindor

Hey look, it’s yet another example of me sticking to my guns and taking bullets from the yahoos on twitter, and now once again everyone is coming around to my way of thinking.

Our reasons may be different – for me, you turn on the fans (aka CUSTOMERS Steve) then you’re done.

Many Mets fans, it’s the same as always – if you can hit you can murder someone on 5th avenue (as someone once said) and if you don’t, they run you out of town.

They are also starting to come after Pete, but for some reason Mets fans forget Pete regularly looks terrible for 3 weeks, and then hits 6 HRs in 8 days and you guys go back to putting him in the Hall of Fame.  I still say Trade Him next time he’s hot and get some more steady pieces in here.
