Vulgar Pete Alonso horses around at U.S. Open instead of preparing for Mets game

If Matt Harvey was horsing around at the U.S. Open instead of preparing for the baseball game, you guys would be mad at him.   Either Twitter X or the US Open has disabled embed technology on this tweet so you’ll have to take my word for it that this happened.

Anyway, Pete should have been working out and watching game film.  This is the same as Matt Harvey hitting a Rangers game.  Focus!!!!

Trade Pete Alonso.  You can finish last without him.

Citi Field named terrible place for baseball but great place for food

Congratulations to the Mets who are really bad at winning World Championships…or even winning more games than they lose…(Trade Pete!) but they have had more success with food and they were so excited about winning the below they used Mailing List B which goes to the bloggers and also means Senior Executive Type didn’t handle this one himself, as he would have used Mailing List A and just sent it to like Mike Vacc.

Personally, I was fine with whatever they sold at Shea in 1986.  Green luke warm hot dog but Gooden struck out 17?  Perfect!

CITI FIELD NAMED WINNER OF THE 2023 USA TODAY 10BEST READERS’ CHOICE AWARD FOR BEST STADIUM FOOD

FLUSHING, N.Y., September 1, 2023 – The New York Mets have been named the winner in the 2023 USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest for Best Stadium Food. Citi Field’s nomination was chosen by a panel of relevant experts, which includes a combination of editors from USA TODAY, editors from 10Best.com, relevant expert contributors, and sources for both these media and other Gannett properties before being voted on by the public online.

“We are thrilled to be voted the winner of the Best Stadium Food award by our fans,” Mets Vice President of Hospitality Taryn Donovan said. “Citi Field has maintained its reputation as one of the top culinary destinations in sports and entertainment since it opened in 2009 and continues to evolve to provide Mets fans with an experience like no other.”

Citi Field continues to offer top tier dining options, bringing fans delicious and exciting new local NYC options each season. Overseeing the culinary operations at Citi Field is Aramark Senior Executive Chef Jason Eksterowicz, who joined the team in the winter of 2017.

Citi Field’s All-Star dining lineup is highlighted by ballpark favorites like Pat LaFrieda’s Filet Mignon Steak Sandwich, David Chang’s Fuku, Danny Meyer’s Shake Shack and the Taste of Queens portable, which rotates every month and a half to feature different local Queens small businesses. Citi Field is also home to exclusives such as the Classic New York Deli Pastrami Sandwich, Amazin’ Chicken Co. and Metropolitan Fry Factory.

Tourist Ad for NYC doesn’t seem to know anything about NYC

Ok, so you want me to come to New York where I’m probably going to want to see things I have heard of like the Statue of Liberty, and the Empire State Building, and Central Park and Times Square and a Broadway show…..

…and if I do think of “New York City Baseball Stadium” you think there’s nothing more New york than Citi Field?  Now you and I know Fake New Yankee Stadium is fake and new, but the tourists won’t care.

Vulgar Pete Alonso says he’s not toxic

The Mets do not have toxic players.  Does this look like a toxic situation to you?

Not at all!  That’s exactly how players should treat teh paying customers.

But that’s Lindor, not Vulgar Pete who says HE isn’t toxic.

Some define toxic as “very harmful or unpleasant in a pervasive or insidious way.”  Say for example, being vulgar to a stadium full of fans

Pete may not be toxic, but he also doesn’t tend to make the expanded playoffs.   Keep losing Steve!

Mets: There are Five Aces!

Now tell me Picard. How many aces do you see?

With Noah Sydergaard being let go by the Guardians I thought I’d take a look at the Five Aces

The Aceiest Ace was The Next Seaver, Matt Harvey.  He is out of baseball and finished 50-66 with a 4.42 ERA although he did start an All Star Game.

Then there was Noah Syndergaard aka Thor.   He (has) had a better career than Matt, going 59-47 3.41 although like Matt he’s tagged on a lot of random teams at the end of his baseball card. (Angels, Phillies, Dodgers, Guardians).

The next shiniest object in the room was Zack Wheeler.  Remember him?   He is 84-63 with a 3.44.   He’s 10-6 this year and at age 33 he still has a ways to go.

While you guys were all like ooooh The Dark Knight and Thor, I started calling Jacob deGrom “The One True Ace”.  He’s 84-57 with a mighty impressive 2.43 in the 21st century.  Two Cy Young Awards isn’t too bad….but unfortunately Jake insists on throwing 100 in Spring Training and we all know what happens when you do that.

Then there is the 5th ace, and it took me a minute to remember his name other than my brain thinking “the guy that looked like young Joe DiMaggio”  Google reminds me he is Steven Matz, and he’s on the Cardinals.  54-58 4,25 (more wins that Matt Harvey!)

So Captain Picard, tell me…..how many aces do you see?
