Well we tried the cool billionaire spends $300,000,000.l thing and that failed. The Wilpons are gone so we can’t blame them. Not sure where we go from here
Who is pumped for 2024?
Max was my favorite Met on a team I have almost no attachment too. Oh well. I wasn’t watching anyway. Good luck with all this Steve.
Sell the team! We need owners like the Marlins who are a winning club trying to win yet another championship after 1987, something the Mets have never done. Also, trade Pete Alonso.
METS ACQUIRE TWO PLAYERS FROM MARLINS
FLUSHING, N.Y., July 28, 2023 – The New York Mets today announced that the club has acquired minor league infielder Marco Vargas and minor league catcher Ronald Hernandez from the Miami Marlins in exchange for RHP David Robertson.
Vargas, 18, was ranked as the No. 9 prospect in the Marlins organization, according to Fangraphs. The Mexico native has slashed .305/.436/.450 with 24 doubles, four triples, four home runs, 57 RBI and 62 runs scored in 86 career games spanning two minor league seasons with the DSL Marlins (2022) and FCL Marlins (2023). Vargas signed with Miami as a non-drafted free agent on May 25, 2022.
Hernandez, 19, was the No. 24 prospect in Miami’s system, per Fangraphs. In three minor league seasons, he has hit .243/.382/.370 with 14 doubles, five triples, eight home runs, 73 RBI and 71 runs scored across 115 career appearances. He signed with the Marlins as a non-drafted free agent on January 15, 2021.
Robertson, 38, was 4-2 with 14 saves and a 2.05 ERA (10 ER/44.0 IP) for New York this season.
The Dark Knight took a break from selling insurance or whatever it is he does these days to take in his favorite baseball team. Meanwhile, John Franco – somehow a former Mets team captain – doesn’t that sound crazy? – rooted for the Mets.
And….you can’t even see the netting!
(Thanks to Sporty for sending over but he’s still blocked!)
