Mets claim famous Yankees RHP Stephen Ridings

Stephen Ridings could look like this in a Mets uniform if they do a pinless throwback

METS CLAIM RHP STEPHEN RIDINGS

FLUSHING N.Y., November, 15, 2022 – The New York Mets announced today that the club has claimed right-handed pitcher Stephen Ridings [RIY-deengs] off waivers from the New York Yankees.

Ridings, 27, saw his first major league action in 2021 with the Yankees, making five relief appearances and posting a 1.80 ERA (1 ER/5.0 IP) with seven strikeouts and two walks.

The Huntington, New York native spent the entire 2022 season on the 60-day Injured List with a right shoulder impingement and threw 2.0 scoreless innings with four strikeouts across two rehab outings in September.

In 71 outings (19 starts) across five minor league seasons with the Cubs, Royals and Yankees organizations, the 6-foot, 8-inch righty is 12-8 with a 4.19 ERA (67 ER/144.0 IP) and 204 strikeouts.

LOL Mets will have Diaz Day after giving a closer a stupid deal with deferred money

5 years for a closer?  I guess Steve likes wasting money even more than Elon Musk does.

But the big story here is that once Bonilla Day goes away, we can still LOL the Mets with Diaz Day all the way until 2042.  ESPN reports..

New York will defer $5.5 million annually from 2023 to ’25 and $5 million each year in 2026 and 2027, with payments due on July 1 in future years.

I look forward to pointing out how bad this deal was for the next 20 years!

Chuck Carr has died at age 55

Former New York Met Chuck Carr has reportedly passed away at age 55 (cancer).

In my mind I felt like Carr played a larger role with the Mets, but I am looking at his stats and he only played in 16 games for the Mets in 1990-91.

The Mets traded him away for minor leaguer Clyde Keller.  Carr later got a shot when the NL Expanded and he got playing time for the expansion Marlins, and let the league in Stolen Bases back when SB were a thing and baseball was watchable.
