Steve understands Buck makes for a better entertainment product

I am so happy the Mets hired Buck Showalter instead of making the same mistake for the third straight time.

I keep coming back to the alternate horrible future we could have had.  Imagine the Mets being run by a coach from Tampa.  Tampa, where the baseball antichrists normalize words like opener and “bulk pitcher.”

Imagine overthinking baseball and starting some middle reliever and then bringing in Scherzer for the second inning.

I’m pleased that we have an old style manager who can hand in an old style lineup card and just sit back until he 6th inning or so and then start paying attention.  This is a veteran team.  Just manage the end of the game and field some questions from Gelbs and this thing should run itself.

Star players actually playing is good for the Mets, good for the league, good for fans, good for the sport and good for TV.

Steve has built a product around stars   Let the players play!

The Mets new scoreboard is horrific

Holy cow. This either wasn’t in yesterday’s press release or I missed it. Regardless, this looks terrible. Just terrible.

Does anyone WANT this? Other that Steve possibly cashing some checks from Samsung?

Does baseball even understand why people like going to baseball games? It’s not to watch commercials in 4K between innings.

Some folks are concerned this could block some views. I reminded them the stadium was purposely designed so you cannot see LF from a big section of the uppers.

Also with the Mets claiming Citi Field is an iconic historic site in their press release I am not sure the city should allow such major changes to a historic icon. Maybe the new mayor can take a look at this before we ruin this historic icon of NYC.

Yuck.

Obviously Crazy Mets describe Citi Field as “An iconic landmark and historic symbol of New York City”

Mets, stop with this. You sound like a crazy person.

I was reading this morning’s press release about the new ribbons, and then I saw this.

An iconic landmark and historic symbol of New York City, Citi Field will welcome fans to experience one of America’s favorite pastimes like never before through Samsung innovations. The multi-year technology upgrade is scheduled to begin in 2022.

OK I know I am negative and all but let’s break that apart…let’s start with the easy part:   HISTORIC

What is historic about Citi Field?   I could make the argument about Shea Stadium based more on The Beatles than the Mets.  But Citi Field?  Why?  Because we got t-shirts once when we destroyed Santana’s career?  the 2015 World Series?  What is HISTORIC about Citi Field.

Put it another way, can you tell the HISTORY OF NYC without mentioning Citi Field?  Pretty sure you can.  There’s this other baseball stadium in the Bronx that was torn down, you probably would have to mention that one.

Now let’s talk ICONIC.   Hey person from not-NYC, name some things in New York…..

Let’s see….The Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Broadway…..

And do any BASEBALL STADIUMS come to mind?   Well, if one does it won’t Citi Field I guarantee that.

So Mets, I appreciate the try but you sound CRAZY.  Take that out of the boiler plate.
