Clever Mets related title here

Good morning.

The season sure is winding down to nothing.  There’s little about the Mets in the papers, surely nothing juicy, so I thought I’d do an odds and ends post.

There was a fair amount of David Wright bashing on twitter on Saturday.  I don’t get it.  Should he not hit two home runs?  Does he somehow stink?

I am trying to be positive and not tear someone down who is probably a nice guy – but I see I am not the only one who is sad when Howie Rose is off and others do the game.  Howie will be back for the STL series.  The Other Voice didn’t really bother me until this year but now it does.  Thoughts?

My dopey dog apparently put two new holes in my Mitchell & Ness jacket during the summer.  The third hole in the sleeve was done on like day 3 of me owning this one.  Grrr.

Speaking of the jacket, I got hit with a, “They let you wear that?” yesterday.  It’s getting really crazy that people are treating me like a lunatic for wearing Mets gear around these parts.  I’d probably get more respect if I wore it in Moscow.

Junior is in big trouble and daddy has taken TV away.  Today he approached me with a trade.  He would like to trade this Mets ball for TV back.  I said I’d ask you guys.

I will have a really good story for you guys this week.  I just haven’t had a chance to write it up properly. If you’re a long-time reader – I went to a Mets game with…

Tom Seaver and something really cool the Mets do (made you look)(photos)

Ok seriously, if these pictures don’t make you smile then go find another blog.

These are from yesterday’s 10th annual Mets Wheelchair Softball Tournament featuring teams from Queens, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago and the Bronx. In partnership with the New York City Department of Education, 100 students with special needs participated in a softball clinic led by the players.

The Mets launched the Major League Baseball Wheelchair Softball tournament in 2001 in partnership with the Wheelchair Sports Federation, New York City Parks and Recreation, Major League Baseball and the United Spinal Association. It is the only event of its kind in Major League Baseball.

Last year, the Mets hosted the 34th Annual National Wheelchair Softball Tournament at Citi Field, marking the first time a Major League Baseball ballpark and New York hosted the event.

I’m starting to realize Tom does a lot more than we hear about. That’s double manly to do the cool things and not make it a big deal about him. Very cool.

Big secret shootouts to people who did nice things for me this week including sending me these photos. They are great.

Time now for coffee and unnamed donuts and soccer. This is that sad Saturday morning where I don’t say “iced” when I order. Sad.

Oktoberfest at Citi Field

Ever wonder where the Mets store the beer?  Well, here’s a shot of Beer Cooler #1.  I have no idea how many coolers there are total, but I was amused to learn that cooler #1 is located directly across from the Mets clubhouse.

Speaking of beer, the Mets are having their annual Oktoberfest next Friday at Citi Field. I broke down some of the details here, as well as theorized about how they could make it even better next year.  It does include a picture of a Mets stein that’s black, but that just means they’re due to make a blue one right?
