Ike Davis 2012 vs Pete Alonso 2021 September 5th check-in

Ike Davis Cowboy meme returns

Through games played sunrise of September 5th of their respective years.

Ike Davis 2012:  25 HR and 74 RBI (he would homer on September 5th).   .224 and 117 Ks

Pete Alonso 2021: 29 HR and 77 RBI.  .262 and 107 Ks.

So it’s clear that through September 4th, Pete is the better player.  Is he irreplaceably better?  Clearly not.

Also “Captain” Pete has been complicity silent in not sticking up for the fans.  I guess he’s just fine with the fans being booed by players, which is why he and deGrom and Thor and Conforto and Nimmo and McNeil and everyone not named Brad Hand must go.  All of them.   You cannot break the sacred bond with the fans.

Today will make it one full week since I haven’t watched a Mets game and I am doing just fine.  HBO Max added the Dirty Harry movies.  Now you shouldn’t’ watch baseball or a movie during a weekend afternoon, but during the week you should watch Dirty Harry movies.

Also, booooooo!

Hey Steve Cohen please thank the #Mets players for all the extra free time!

Hey Uncle Steve,

Just wanted to thank you for putting together possibly the least likable group since at least the 1990s!   I wanted to update you on how I am doing moving on with my life.

On Tuesday I skipped both games.  I finished dup Zack Snyder’s Justice League and I gotta tell you, the first hour is as boring as baseball, but the next three hours were pretty entertaining.

Thursday I had some friends over.  It was nice.  We sat out by the fire and hung out until 10pm or so.  Heard the Mets won!

Tonight, honestly I thought you guys were home so I was mentally prepared to Black Out the game anyway, but I think I might skip it and watch some movies.  It’s a Fall kind of day out, so a movie might hit the spot.

Tomorrow, I have no idea when you plan on playing baseball but I am heading to the beach so I have no interest in your product.

I didn’t even like these guys when they were in first place, but now that they openly don’t like their own fans, I am very happy to live life without them, you, or your business.   It’s not a boycott, and of course I will be back.  I’m already excited about the New Generation of Mets like Brad Hand who is not tainted by Boogate.  He’s my favorite Mets player now!

Guys like Jacob deGrom?  Complicit in their silence.  “Captain” Pete?  Complicit in his silence.   Thor had enough energy to ask me to read a book but not to stick up for the fans so he too is complicit in his silence.

They can all go Steve.  Perhaps your third choice General Manager will get it right this time.  Hey, maybe YOU will get it right this time – so far your hiring record is a disaster.  The closest thing you’ve done to OK is bringing back one of the Wilpons’ guys Sandy Alderson.  And you’re going a heck of a job changing the culture.

Have a nice weekend Steve.  I am sure I will check the app to see what the score is.  I know you guys are all excited being just one game under after a huge sweep of the Marlins.   Let’s Go Mets!  Booooooo!

Mets acquire Mr. Hand

Welcome to Brad Hand who is now my favorite Mets player because he is not tainted by the sins of last weekend. Welcome Mr. Hand.

FLUSHING, N.Y., September 2, 2021 — The New York Mets today announced the club has claimed LHP Brad Hand off waivers from Toronto. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Mets designated RHP Geoff Hartlieb for assignment.

Hand, 31, is 5–7 with a 4.21 ERA (24 earned runs/51.1 innings) and 21 saves in 52 combined games with Washington and Toronto this year. He began the season with the Nationals before he was traded to the Blue Jays on July 29. Hand’s 21 saves all came with the Nationals and he ranks ninth in the NL in saves.

During his 11-year career with Miami, San Diego, Cleveland, Washington and Toronto, he is 31–50 with 126 saves and a 3.70 ERA (271 earned runs/660.0 innings).
