Matt Harvey pitched against the Rays! How did he do? You’ll look!

Wow is it Harvey Day again? You know the drill…let’s look at the numbers…

Matt hit the leadoff guy in the socks…

…first half Matt Harvey would melt down.  But this is Second Half Matt Harvey, and he knows there are lots of fun places where a young-ish man can find stuff to do in Tampa.

And Second Half Matt Harvey wasn’t fazed at all.   It’s a 1-2-3-4 for TDK and our first “Matt Harvey walks back to the dugout” shot of the night.

On to the second….and you can sit down son.

And you know what you can do….you can sit down too son.

Look at those swing and misses!!!  And Matt walks back to the dugout after dusting your sorry arse.

On to the third….and you can sit down too….

Here’s what it looks like coming in….

And this is you sitting down.

And Matt has a no-no through three with five strikeouts.

In the 4th….well, a walk, an infield hit, a triple and suddenly it’s 2-0 with a man on third!

Sit down son!

And then a comebacker to the mound!

You’re out! A flyout ends the inning, and all said not too bad.

On to the 5th and here comes the pitch….

Uh oh…

…oh no…

Boy this post is getting long.  Brandon Lowe, the best power hitter on the planet, steps in and…

Yikes. That’s his 27th which is more than 25 I believe.

He pitched better than the line looked, but Brandon Hyde has finally learned to get Matt out of there.   I think Matt deserved better tonight.  Oh well.

4.2 5 runs (I think someone got on base which is what led to the pitching change, but my wife called me in the middle of it), 5 hits, 6 Ks and those pesky two home runs.  Don’t sign with the Yankees Matt, your stuff won’t stay in FNYS.  You need a nice giant ballpark.  Ever been to St. Louis?

Orange Is the New Black

The black edge jerseys are hideous.  Would an orange jersey not be better?  Of course it would.  The below is a t-shirt, but imagine a jersey that looks like this.

It would look something like this but Less Los.  Look at how the colors POP, unlike the Black Edge jerseys.

Hey Pete Alonso, it’s been a week and I am still talking about it!

“In a week from now, two weeks from now, no one’s going to talk about this” – Pete Alonso

Pete Alonso wondering who could have possibly gotten Chili Davis fired.

Hey Pete, just wanted tot let you know it’s been a week, and I am still talking about it.

It’s amazing to me that the next time we see the Mets back east that they are going to be under .500 in late August.  That’s stunningly bad.

Pete, I know you won the Home Run Derby and that’s exciting but let’s take a look at what has happened since the All Star Break,

That’s pretty bad.

Let’s check in on your stats during this time…

.252 with 8 HRs, ok 8 HRs isn’t too bad in 30 games….16 RBI isn’t so good…..23 Ks in 128 PAs

OK those are pretty much “Pete Alonso Numbers” so fine.  It doesn’t exactly make you the best power hitter on the planet, nor does it make you someone I would build a franchise around…but hey we all enjoyed Lucas Duda, didn’t we?

Anyway Pete, enjoy the West Coast and I will be here in a week to talk about this again.  LGM!

Local Owner of 3rd place baseball team says 2022 ticket prices are going up!

A baseball fan suggested to the owner that the fan’s prices had been raised by 20%.  I don’t have access to the numbers, but I do have the words of the baseball team owner.

Now “average ticket” could allow for all sorts of fun with math, but at minimum the owner seems to be telling us he has raised ticket prices for his third place failure of a team.

A look at the owner’s timeline reveals the below.  It is unclear to me what the tweet about some went up and some went down is about, perhaps it is about tickets.

Mr. Cohen tends not to tweet after losses, so this is the latest we have from him.  I am confident if you ask him about your ticket increases he will be happy to field your questions on twitter.
