As you’ve noticed I decided I should start sucking up to the Piazza Generation…here’s a Sports Illustrated from 2000 commemorating The Subway Series. It doesn’t end well Mets fans. Because I’m fair I will admit that the picture of Mike Hampton looks good despite all the color challenges. This magazine also came in handy for an upcoming episode of How I Met The Mets. Mets vs. Astros 1965
Once again, thanks to Mike. Click for larger version.
I love this shot. A few things jump out…
– look at the message on the scoreboard. Those used to go up one letter at a time, 80’s video game style. If you wanted an X you had to scroll A,B,C,D…X. There would often be tons of typos.
– I love the distribution of the crowd. I wonder if it was a camp day?
– note that the American League scores are on the right hand side of the scoreboard.
– the Herald Tribune went out of business in 1966. Advertising at Shea cannot save you.

MLK III and Kranepool not really buying Mets: shocker
Great job by Calceterra calling hogwash on all the nonsense in the papers on Sunday.
The only people who really know the deal are Jeff and Fred.
Oh, the Seinfeld/McMahon/Shark/Mazzilli partnership is looking good.
