Pictures from Philadelphia of the McFadden’s in Philadelphia

These are from the McFadden’s in Philadelphia.  Philadelphia.  Not from anywhere near a rotunda.  Clear?

This is not meant to be a trick you post.  I went to the game in Philly today and when I walked in I thought “oh yeah, McFadden’s, I should take some pictures.”

Does the McFadden’s at a certain ballpark look this way?  I don’t know.

If you’re a new reader you may be surprised to learn I have a 15 game Phillies plan.  This was the first time in 2 seasons that I have used it.  Last year I went 15 for 15 on stubhub making nice small profits to offset my Mets tickets and never sat in my own seats not even once.   Then, I made a killing on the playoffs.  Those World Series tickets paid for everything Mets in 2009 and then some.  As Omar says, “You know what I’m sayin’?”

Today the weather outweighed the three bucks in Stubhub I could have made, so I decided to hit the road with Junior.  I took 200 pictures and will be rolling them out as the weeks go along – yep, there’s no better way to chase away an audience then by combining my awful photography with Phillies stuff.

The Philly McFadden’s is nice and roomy, seemed easy to get a bartender’s attention, and had a nice outdoor patio area that was popular on this fine sunny day.  There’s nothing remarkably awesome about it, but if you’re looking to hang out with some Phillies fans, this seems a good spot.  Whereas the McFadden’s websites make the places out to be bimbos and booze, I felt this one had more of a vibe of Cheers meets sports bar.

For those of you on the main page click continue reading (big pictures slow down the site) and everyone else should see the pictures below.  Click the pictures for bigger versions.

So what’s the official Mr. Met continuity now?

If you’re a comic book nerd or a Trekkie or a James Bond fan – and I am all of those – you may have heard of the term continuity.  Basically it’s the way those particular universes make sense.

Until now I felt Mr. Met continuity was to pretend that the current swishy version was the same character as the paper mache head from the 60’s and 70’s.

Clearly this is not the same person.  Mache Head hung around with Lady Met.   Swishy is married with kids (according to an ESPN commercial).

I’m guessing that the character Mr. Met has been embodied by two different people, much like Dick Grayson became Batman when Bruce Wayne died (or whatever is happening these days.  Very confusing).

Maybe Mache Head gave up when Seaver went to Cincinnati, and young Swishy decided to don the persona.

If you’re thinking, wow this is nerdy, what a loser – I’m writing it at 10pm on Friday and I am wearing a Mets sweatshirt. Really.  Oh, and yes I hope “Swishy” catches on.

Some McFadden’s Opening Day info

McFadden’s asked to be my friend on Facebook (and now we are), so I visited their site and noticed this which I thought my interest y’all:

OPENING DAY 2010!
Come play with us Opening Day! Grand Opening festivities include a VIP reception, complete with batting cages and celebrity guests! To RSVP: [email protected]

Media Goon emailed me around dinner time last night and said that if they are to open on-time, it looked to him as if the construction crews would be making some serious overtime.  I bet they make it.

Today I’m going to head down to Philly.  I have tickets to their exhibition game, and it’s nice out – so I figured I’d take a drive and walk around the ballpark.  In the morning I’m going to visit Citi Field.  I’ll be the guy in the 1983 Seaver jersey if you want to say hi.  I think yesterday I said it was blue.  It isn’t.  It is early 80’s pullover white.

If you’re a new reader, I tend to post just a little less on Saturday, but Sunday it usually close to the normal weekday volume.  It’s nice out there, I suggest logging off the Mets Police and catching some sun.   If you sign up for the free daily email you won’t miss a thing, and can get a tan.  I’m still psyched that real Mr. Met is back!

2009 Mets record breakdown by jersey and cap color (link)

Uniwatch has some great great breakdowns of the Mets uniform choices for 2009.

Some tidbits:

  • The won the most games in…blue caps!
  • “Los Mets” were 0-2
  • The formerly official uniform (you know, pinstripes and blue caps) were only worn 9 times.

Clearly it is poor uniform choices that caused the Mets to miss the playoffs.  The hybrid caps must be stopped at all costs.   Go read Uniwatch for more!  Great stuff!
