New York Mets Promise Lower Ticket Prices For 2010

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The New York Mets today announced across the board decreases in the price of Season Tickets for the 2010 season at Citi Field with no increase in the price of any ticket next year.

The average ticket price on a full-season basis will drop by more than 10 percent with reductions in select locations in excess of 20 percent. Every Season Ticket Holder will see a decrease in their invoice for next season.

The price of the least expensive seat will remain at $11.

“The Mets are sensitive to the economic realities facing our fans and we have lowered our ticket prices in response to these challenging conditions,” said Dave Howard, Executive Vice President, Business Operations. “This move underscores our appreciation of our fans’ ongoing loyalty and support. We are committed to delivering exceptional service and value to our customers at Citi Field in 2010.”

Ken Davidoff Takes A Look At The Managers Office

Ken Davidoff suggests in Newsday that Jerry shouldn’t get a free pass.  This paragraph I’ve isolated is what I keep thing about.

The Mets have lost 41 of their last 59 games, a woeful .305 percentage. That can’t be attributed solely to a talent disadvantage. That screams, “White flag.” As do Manuel’s numerous public comments and team meetings urging his players not to give up, which never seemed to take.

Time For The New York Mets To Move On Without Shortstop Jose Reyes

The Mets once had a fan favorite catcher who hit 40 home runs. He was
also hurt all the time. They went out and got Mike Piazza and cast
aside Todd Hundley like he was Nick Evans.

In other sports we've seen teams successfully move on without a key
piece rather than wait forever on injuries (think Joe Montana.)

There was a time when Nomar Garciaparra was Mr. Boston and in a
conversation about being the best shortstop in the game. It wasn't
meant to be.

Based upon history, based upon the way the Mets handle injuries, based
upon what you've seen from the player in 2009, is there anything that
makes you think Jose Reyes will play a full productive season in 2010?

The Mets now need a shortstop to go along with the two starting
pitchers and left fielder they need. You can forget about kicking
Danny Murphy out of town, if he slumps again there's always an
expensive bat available in July.

They need a shortstop. Forget about your fantasy of Reyes walking and
then stealing second an third. It isn't real.

If Jose shows up midseason and is a superstar that's great. He can
have his job back or he can play second or whatever. They can use
their clib option for 2011 or they can set him free Worry about
that stuff in the unlikely case that a healthy Reyes shows up. In
2009 they kept a seat warm for him and he never sat down. Don't wait
again.

This is going to be some marketing job for the Mets to sell tickets.
I have some ideas….tomorrow.

2006 is over. Move on.

Cool St. Louis Cap On Fitted Hawaii

Earlier in the day we shared a cool alternate Mets cap…here’s a St. Louis one also from Fitted Hawaii.  I guess it’s a Browns hat, but in the world of custom caps one can never be sure (like the blue and white “Mets” hat that is just like a cap the Giants once wore.)

This one is interesting to look at.  I’m not sure if it would look good on a civilian, and it wouldn’t look good on-field, but it makes a nice picture.

Speaking of the Twins, USA Today write about their new stadium:

There will be “knotholes” along the Fifth Street side of the ballpark that will allow fans to watch the action without buying a ticket. There will be heated concessions and restrooms.
