Host Your Holiday Party At Citi Field

The New York Mets invite you to host your holiday party at Citi Field.  I appreciate that free parking offer, I get annoyed when I have to pay $18 to park to attend the Christmas party.

Metropolitan Hospitality at Citi Field is a brand new, unique venue for Holiday Parties. With Citi Field’s close proximity to the city and impeccable views, it is the perfect destination to celebrate the winter holiday season with your colleagues.

Our Delta Sky360 Club offers a formal dining room, lounge areas, and large center bar. The Club’s use of dark wood and warm textures creates the perfect ambiance with boasting views of the entire playing field. The chic and sophisticated Delta Sky360 Club is the perfect setting to ring in the holiday season for you and your guests.

The Acela Club is an upscale event space with floor to ceiling windows and sweeping views of the City’s skyline, and Flushing Bay Marina. This enchanting venue has mahogany, brick, and steel architecture, tiered seating, and a furnished patio that wraps around the outfield.

Guests can party under the stars at the Caesars Club. For larger parties, this space offers a grand horseshoe bar, cocktail tables, and lounge seating for up to 900 guests. Chrysler and The Mets

I think I brought this up sometime during the season…someone wrote into the Times asking why Chrysler would run ads about their winning brand being tied to the Mets winning brand.

The Times answers at length but here’s an excerpt:

But “the dealers love the Mets,” Ms. Tinson (Chrysler spokesman) says, which are “still one of the most popular teams in baseball and still have a lot of devoted fans.”

Cleveland Newspaper Understands Bobby V Already

Fun to watch Cleveland get to know Bobby V.  From the Plain-Dealer:

He also happens to be the only candidate to replace manager Eric Wedge who has any success as a major-league manager. His stance seems to be: If you want me, take me as I am. I’m not about to beg for this job.

Tug McGraw Told New York To Stick It

I’m going to guess since this middle-aged Mets fan didn’t recall this, this may be news to many of you.

When I mentioned the Phillies fans use of “Ya Gotta Believe” yesterday, reader Jon mentioned that in 1980 Tug took the phrase with him and told NY to “stick it.”

I’ve always known Tug to be a a beloved Met alumnus, and of course we remember 1973.

However, if you read here – here is the story in print.

Not sure how I feel about Tug now.
