View From Behind Citi Field Section 101

On my way to get some tacos, I stood behind section 101 to take in the view.

I haven’t sat in these seats yet, but it looks like a cool angle.

The Yankee fan I was with asked if they were “bleachers.”  He was surprised that we don’t have such things (like a $12 outfield ticket) in Queens.

Section 101 runs $30-$70 depending on if the terrorist threat is red or orange, or whatever the crazy Mets pricing system is.

I I was closer to RF for this one but you get the idea.

The Mystery Of Jeff Wilpon’s Professional Baseball Playing Career

Recently I wrote about Jeff Wilpon’s playing career.   I’m not ripping him (I sure never was drafted) but I am curious to know how he did.  So far I am unable to find any statistics.

Mets Walkoffs sent this to me right away.  While you see the expanded stats, I still don’t see any mention of Jeff Wilpon actually getting into any games.

It’s very possible that I am wrong, just curious.

Be Nice To The New York Mets Day

I have decided today will be “Be Nice To The Mets Day.”

They are being cool and honoring the NY Giants (the team that won 10 pennants but nobody talks about, yet all you ever heard about was waaaahhh Brooklyn and that was way before Fred build N’Ebbetts Field.)  Plus they are adding championship banners to the fence and “Mets stuff” around Citi Field.

So I won’t pick on them today.  In fact, if by 5pm they ban black hats and name Lee Mazzilli manager I will have accomplished all my goals and I can shut down the blog.

Although I will be nice today it doesn’t mean everyone has to:

Bitter Bill has a great look back and some of the less-pretty Mets uniforms of the past.

Osh41 asked if Charlie Samuels knows about these.  Hopefully Charlie won’t read the blog before Tuesday.

Pedro:  I’m known not to be a fan.  I watched the game.  He looked pretty good for three, maybe 4….the 5th inning was shaky….the Phillies OFers caught some possible doubles…but he was serviceable, although I don’t think a 5 inning pitcher would have helped the Mets in the second half.

New York Mets To Honor Giants AND Add "Mets Stuff" To Citi Field

To paraphrase Gary Thorne (thanks Osh41 for the correction)…I am in “stunned disbelief.”
Amazin’
I’m speechless!
Let us rejoice!
From mets.com (and thanks to Adam Rubin and Mets Blog for the tips).
I once again would like to thank Metsblog for linking to Mets Police because their huge readership brings attention to all my whining.

FLUSHING, N.Y., August 12, 2009 – The New York Mets today announced they will honor their National League heritage by wearing throwback uniforms inspired by the turn of the century New York Giants uniforms when they play the San Francisco Giants August 14-16 at Citi Field.

The cream-colored jerseys feature an oversized blue “NY” on the front, blue and orange piping on the sleeves and a Mr. Met patch on the right sleeve.

Mets Amazin’ Memorabilia will auction off the jerseys to benefit the Mets Foundation on www.mets.com/gameused.

In addition, the Mets have begun installation of photographic imagery of famous players and historic moments in team history on the Field and Promenade Levels as well as the display of team championship banners on the left field wall.

The Mets were created after the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants left for California following the 1957 season. Major League Baseball granted New York a National League franchise in 1960, and the Mets played their first two seasons in 1962 and 1963 at the Polo Grounds – the former home of the Giants.
