Most Popular On Mets Police (June 28th)

The weekly recap of popular items and those that deserved a little more attention:

I think it’s vitally important that the 4 syllable Lets Go Meh-ets chant stop right now.   I didn’t hear one on Thursday.  Good.

I’ve added the Lets Make Noise department to the list of Mets Police enemies (which includes Charlie Samuels).  I’d like to learn more about these guys if anyone has any old links/stories/info.   Send those or anything (pics, guest columns) to [email protected]

Another plea for the Mets to hang some player banners inside.   When I went to the game Thursday my kid asked “who is that?” – it was a picture of Gil Hodges (the Mets have hung banners on the outsie of Citi).   So he got a quick lesson in the 69 Mets.   See how that works?

I thought the 1998 Mets-ish wild card logo was interesting, especially for the Cubs to wear.

Did you get a copy of the Corporate Sponsorship Survey the Mets sent out?  Someone wants to know a lot about your banking choices.   You can see the full survey here.

I’m obsessed with fixing up 126th Street.   Some good comments about that article were sent in and will be posted soon.

A teaser – the outside of the New York Mets Team Store.   All this week I’ll take you on my shopping trip via pictures.

Since July 4th will be a low-traffic day, I’m going to rerun the “cool Mets blogs” article.  Any suggestions for additions?   Email them to [email protected]

Real Mets fans hate the black uniforms.  This is their record wearing them.

The Mets Police endorse “Meet the Mets” as the song you should vote for in the “what song should the Mets play in the 8th inning” survey.  Supposedly you can vote on mets.com but I’m not seeing it.  Can someone send the link?

I don’t think “Utley’s Corner” is a bad name.  I expect to get booed for this stance.

I’m with Gary, Keith and Ron:  bring back Old Timer’s Day.  Banner day too while you’re at it.

Always popular:  Inside the Acela ClubInside the Caesar’s Club and the overall collection of Citi Field pics including obstructed views.

Base upon that trend I expect the pics of the Delta Club will soon follow.

Yes I published the “June 28th” edition on the night of June 27th.  Consider it a throwback to when my dad used to pick up the Sunday News at 9pm on Saturdays.   That and I might want to spend Sunday at the beach.

Philadelphia Eagles Welcome Bloggers

Not new, but I’m catching up on some outstanding items.  Peter King in SI says:

The Philadelphia Eagles will make the instant-news world we live in very happy this summer. They’re installing a Blogging Trailer adjacent to the training camp practice fields at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., for use during and immediately after practice for bloggers covering camp and for beat guys filing to instant-news blogs.
“Reporting on the NFL has become such a ‘now’ business,” Eagles PR czar Derek Boyko said. “I saw this [trailer] as being in the ‘need’ category, because so many bloggers are doing immediate stories, and now the beat reporters are doing the blogging, too.”

That’s pretty cool.  I find it fascinating how the media world is changing.   Somehow I don’t see the Wilpons letting me walk around spring training 2010 nitpicking everything the Mets wear.  Some day…

Wrigley Field Has A Brickwalk Too

I guess these are pretty common around the major leagues.   Look familiar?  This one is in Chicago.

Yellow New York Mets David Wright Jersey/Shirt?

This too I cribbed from Uni Watch.  So you guys all bookmark Uni Watch and visit them every day so they don’t get mad at me.  Plus their site rocks.

Here are some Mets fans at a recent game in Baltimore. What’s with the yellow Wright jersey?   I don’t see any way to justify that being made.

I guess it’s cool that the guy’s chick is into baseball enough to wear a Wright jersey (I’m assuming she’s with someone) – but yellow?

UPDATE:  as several readers pointed out, this is an All-Star game jersey from the year the ASG was in Pittsburgh.  I still wonder anyone would buy such a thing. I don’t get the ASG jerseys at all.  I guess this year we’ll be getting blue and red ones (Cardinals).

Would The New York Mets Look Better With Orange Sanis?

I was checking out the awesome Uni Watch blog (a must-bookmark for anyone who digs the Mets Police.   It is run by a Mets fan who is on them about everything.)

Anyway, they linked to this which has some extra orange photoshopped into the Mets uniforms.  Tell me what you think.  I am not including the picture in order to maintain honor among bloggers.
