Mets Police Endorse "Meet The Mets" In New York Mets 8th Inning Singalong

I personally like Curly Shuffle because I’m from the 80s but I think we should all unite behind Meet the Mets lest we split the vote.

Therefore I officially endorse “Meet the Mets” which sounded great during the 8th yesterday.

All other choices would be idiotic.

Don’t forget, this will become a tradition….so let’s not mess this one up.  Other bloggers, do the right thing.

FLUSHING, N.Y., June 26, 2009 – The New York Mets today announced the launch of an online fan vote to pick the Mets Eighth Inning “Sing-A-Long” Song at Citi Field. Voting begins now on Mets.com.
WFAN’s Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton assisted the Mets in compiling a list of songs by submitting their own selections.
Fans can log on to Mets.com to vote for one of the following:
Eighth Inning “Sing-A-Long” Song Nominees

  • “Curly Shuffle”
  • “Hooked on a Feeling”
  • “I Like it Like That”
  • “Mama Said Knock You Out”
  • “Meet the Mets”
  • “This Land is Your Land”
  • “Twist & Shout”

I might just be dense, but I don’t see anywhere to actyally vote.

ESPN Previews New York Mets – Yankees Subway Series

Nothing exciting. Seems like pitching is the key to the series. Who knew?

Sold my tickets for tomorrow.   Took 2 hours to get home yesterday and I’d rather have the extra $150 which pays for about 5 other games.   There’s a 60 inch TV and some cold “free” beer waiting for me (and fireworks in town tomorrow night – kids and all) so don’t call me names.

New York Mets Raise The Price Of Beer In Chicago

I spotted this at Harry Caray’s restaurant (where I recommend the Chicken Vesuvio) …I didn’t know anything about this story but I was happy to see the word Mets.

So I looked it up..

Harry Caray, legendary baseball announcer and owner of a Chicago bar, promised patrons that he would sell beers for 45 cents as long as the Cubs’ record losing streak continued.

USA Today Article About Citi Field

Good article in USA Today about Citi Field being the anti-Yankee Stadium when it comes to home runs.

1.7 HRs a game at Citi as opposed to 2.2 at Shea.

Chipper Jones:

“I don’t think it is even close. It is by far the biggest I’ve played in,” he says. “You hit a line drive to the 408-foot sign on the top of the (center-field) wall, you think it would count (as a home run), but not in that ballpark.
“There will never be a cheap homer hit there. The size of the yard means the power numbers are going to take a hit. But in the long run, it might make those guys better hitters. They won’t be so focused on hitting a home run.”

A Beautiful Afternoon At Citi Field

I spent Thursday afternoon at the ballpark with Mets police Junior….took 100 or so shots, I was surprised the actual Mets police didn’t stop me from taking so many photos in the team store, but in the upcoming days I will give you a break from the Wrigley stuff (still have tons to cover there) – so starting next week we’ll check out the team store, then some of the menu items.   Rather than start that series on a Friday, here’s some random shots from Thursday afternoon.

A packed house for a Thursday afternoon!   Blue sky too! Remember those?

I need an engineer to explain to me the difference between Citi concrete and Shea concrete.  It felt like 100 degrees around 12:30 today, and it wasn’t that hot.  The actual Promenade underneath was a good 25 degrees cooler.   Wait until it is actually hot.

By the way, who is buying the “lemonade?”  Looks like a cup of water with a lemon floating.

If you want to get me something for my birthday, I wouldn’t mind this Mets themed “Hawaiian” shirt.

Take a close look at that hat….

….I don’t know if you can make it out – see the guy with the shirt I like – he was wearing a “Mets” hat with a white NY.  Sure looked Dodgery.  Don’t show Fred Wilpon that one.

Excuse me sir, you bought a black hat with a black NY.   You realize we can’t see the NY right?

Good job out of Junior.   I told him I’d buy him a shirt.   He picked a blue and orange one with an Irish guy on the back.   Son, some day, this blog will be all yours.

$22 at the Team Store.
