It’s my least favorite stupid-Mets day of the year!

Mets players will wear “Los Mets” jerseys and the night’s festivities will feature Latin American music and dance with pre-game entertainment and in-game programming designed to celebrate Latino culture.

Now before you make assumptions about me calm down.

Here’s my problem.   “Los Mets” means “The Mets.”   That’s stupid.  Spanish for Mets is Mets.  Are they going to wear “The Mets” jerseys on U.K. Night?

If you’re going to do this you need a name like Brewers/Cerveceros.    Gigantes.   Yanquis (although that would be a major departure).

“Los Mets” is stupid and it looks stupid on a jersey.

You wanna have nights for various groups, awesome.  I doubt that “Los” gains one more fan.

UPDATE:

Some of the comments have suggested I don’t understand the mechanics of Spanish.   I admit I don’t.

However..

Here are Los Piratas de Campeche wearing their jerseys.  No “Los”

Here are Los Tigres en Quintana Roo.    No “Los.”

It’s odd to me that I don’t have complete command of every inch of Citi Field the way I did at Shea.  

I believe this is new.  It is a video screen in right field, it was not active on Thursday afternoon.   We had been promised a new screen, thus my assumption.

It is above section 105 or so.

I did a 360 of the park today and did not notice any new “Mets stuff” with the possible exception of some baseball card thingies which I will post tomorrow.

That square on the right of this poorly taken photo is the screen from a different angle.

As I usually do, I took a bunch of pictures of the field and will share them in the upcoming days.  I like to save some stuff for slow days.  I can’t count on an apology-week to get me through, especially if the team is going to be 10 games back.

I see on the scoreboard that tomorrow is Fiesta Latina. Will we see
Los Mets jerseys? Will someone explain to me how having the jersey
say "The Mets" makes any sense? Why not have a small "the" on today's?

An email from a Mets fan:

I had the first chance to sit in my weekday plan seats last night (Monday).  Thankfully I had sold all of them prior to this game.  526 (Between 3rd and the wall) at an average of $25 per seat in the plan.  For that $25 per seat, I had the privilege of an obstructed (not by the Mets opinion) view of left field.  Essentially about 10% of left field you just couldn’t see because of the design of the stadium.  Are they kidding me?  Is there a seat in this park without an obstructed view?  Add in $12.50 for a Nathans fries and chicken fingers for the kid, and a very disturbing look when asking for a cup filled with water, and you can bet I will not be renewing next year.  Its embarrassing that they actually paid people to build this park, and on top of that I’d bet the contract didn’t go to the lowest bidder so there is no excuse for all the flaws.  I cannot remember anywhere near these amounts obstructed views at Shea.  Between this, the Yankees mess, the Giants and Jets debacle,  Michael Vick being conditionally reinstated, the Knicks scandal, the Islanders money grab…etc, I think its about time to look to the colleges and high schools for entertainment and show these buffoons that they have coasted along for too long.  We give these people a golden ticket and they provide literally nothing for us.  I can think of people who would appreciate $2000 much more than they would.

Whatever you do, don’t call WFAN.  They will just hang up on you and tell you you’re crazy.

The way we characterize “obstructed” is if you have an obstruction, something in front of you — a beam, a pillar, something that’s blocking your view. That’s not the case here. It is a function of the geometry of the building. And it is a conscious decision that we made along with the designers and the architects, that we wanted people to be lower and closer to the field, and have great views, and great views of the action.
