Long Islanders mad about the Citi name (video)

The fans are mad about the name. The fans want Manny. Check the anger at the start of this video – when it gets to mustaches you might as well close it since it gets stupid.

Torre Was Convincing On Larry King But Didn’t Answer Why?

I thought Joe Torre was pretty good on Larry King tonight, and reminded me of the Joe Torre we all remember. He had calm answers for everything, except they “why.”  He said something about wanting to share what it was like, but it still seems to me like it was about the money.

The “A-Fraud” thing seems like it was clubhouse banter, and not a behind the back rip.  Also on A-Rod, the quote below makes sense to me.

“You can’t put Alex Rodriguez into a clubhouse and not think it’s gonna change based on who he is, his ability, and what he’s done in the past.”

“To me, this book is going to sit on the shelves. It’s going to be a piece of history.”

I can’t wait to actually read the book.

Did A-Rod steal the DiMaggio sign from Yankee Stadium?

Did you hear that A-Rod stole the “I thank the Good Lord for making me a Yankee” sign from the old-new Stadium?
What a jerk!  How dare he!  This is another example of A-Rod not getting it etc.  Who does he think he is?!
Right?
Oh wait, it’s Jeter who did it, so now it’s magically OK.

Million Manny March great idea, under-promoted.

Some Mets fans held a “Million Manny March” last night in front of SNY.

Great idea, bad execution.

I don’t think they got the word out there.

Maybe there was a lot of discussion on message boards, but 99% of Metsdom never reads a message board.

I read four newspapers a day.  I “google alert” Mets every three hours.  I’m on-line all day.  I check out my fellow bloggers.  I even have a Mets blog myself.  I don’t claim it’s the best one or the most important one, but it’s nice enough.

I never heard about this march until google told me about it last night around 8:30.   Maybe I just suck, but that’s not the point.  The march drew 40 people.

I think it’s a great idea, and they should do it again.

This time they should make sure every blogger in the world knows (spend some time on Google, type in Mets and search blogs) and try to get themselves on sports radio late next week when there’s nothing to alk about but the Pro Bowl.

Mets fans take to the streets begging brass to sign Manny Ramirez
New York Daily News, NY – 4 hours ago
The “Million Manny March” boasted only about 40 people, but they were screaming on behalf of Mets fans everywhere when they talked about the heartache of

WBC: Now with even stupider rules!

This is so stupid that you won’t believe me unless I give you a link from mlb.com to prove I’m not making it up – so here you go.

MLB has added a new rule to the already stupid unnecessary WBC.  Again you won’t believe me so I’ll just quote it:

This rule dictates that, starting with the 13th inning, each half-inning will begin with runners on first and second base, with the batting order intact. The applicability of the rule to the championship game of the tournament is under review by the rules and regulations committee.

What???  That’s not baseball.   If both teams have runners on first and second don’t they stand the same chance of scoring the same amount of runs whether none, two or seventeen?

Can you imagine watching a baseball game where there’s magically two guys on?  Who are the two guys?  Anyone you want?  The last two batters?

Why not have a home run derby?  Why not have a re-entry rule?  Why not let the fans vote by calling an 800 number?

Awful.
