1. They left after the first game and Mets personnel were encouraging people to stay as they left the building. That’s interesting. I’m sure Howie Rose said “40,000” stayed for the second game.

2. Adult Male in His 20’s said that he didn’t realize they could stay for both games. He had never heard of such a thing and assumed he needed a second ticket. Wow. the Mushnick Generation has come of age – this Adult Male in His 20’s has never heard of a traditional doubleheader….and probably has never seen a daytime World Series game.

“It’s fair to say that Willie’s our manager and as I said before, that situation is always under evaluation,” Minaya said when asked about Randolph managing tonight in Anaheim. “I’m always evaluating that situation. That’s what it is.”

>Sources are telling the Mets Police that Mets manager Willie Randolph may or may not be fired during tonight's first batter.

If Jose Reyes falls behind early in the count, say 1 and 2, the Mets are expected to call time out and replace Randolph with the similarly tempered and similarly respected Jerry Manuel.

Notes: The Mets have come to terms with free agent outfielder Willie Mays. Mays signs a four year deal and is expected to be the every day left fielder. Team physicians, speaking under the condition that they not speak of Ryan Church, expect that with 35 years between starts Mays should have fresh legs.

Team broadcaster Howie Rose celebrated Father's Day with his family of "about 40,000" after the game at a local Applebees. Rose had to skip dessert because of the incredible hardship of having to take a plane, get 8 hours sleep and then go to work.

SNY's Lee Mazzilli is rumored to be sporting a faux 1955 World Champions ring in an attempt to take over for Jerry Manuel when the Mets move to Dodger Stadium East in 2009.
