After Billy Wagner’s explosion in the locker room, the notion that Randolph has lost control of his team was finally nailed shut into it’s coffin. He does not inspire the team, he does not wrangle the team. He does nothing, and hopes the team does it’s job.

>Willie Watch & The All Star Game

>

There’s so many now I can’t keep up….and they didn’t even play!

And how do you put Willie on the All Star Team but not invite Torre back to the Stadium?!

“I’m with a new team now,” Torre told The Associated Press Friday night after his Los Angeles Dodgers were beaten 4-2 by the Angels. ” (Yankees manager) Joe Girardi is a coach for the All-Star Game, and deservedly so. They usually take the local city’s managers as coaches. Besides, I’m not sure that if I got a call, I would say yes. Going over there at this point in time, I may serve as more of a distraction than to go over there and help the manager win a ballgame.”

The Captain

The Captain took a big step yesterday in accepting his destiny as The Captain.
Sounds like Wright was the one who spoke up in the meeting yesterday.

“I feel like, hopefully being one of the young cornerstones here, slowly but surely I need to be more of a leader,” Wright said in a private moment at his locker before the team meeting. “I feel more and more comfortable each year. But in this game, you have to earn your stripes. You can’t come in as a rookie and start yelling and screaming at people.”

>Wally Watch!

Not sure what to make of this. …a post about Wally replacing Willie – then the theory withdrawn. I link, you decide.

Here’s the tease:

*** UPDATE – It has been brought to BMF’s attention by people in the know that SNY was in fact resistant to air this series and word is Backman is no where near the top of the list of potential future managers. So I guess I’m way off base with the post below. Oh well it sure was a good theory while it lasted!***

BMF was shocked when I flipped on SNY friday afternoon only to find “Playing For Peanuts” a half hour documentary series on Wally Backman’s return to managing in the independent league for the South Georgia Peanuts.
