Some holiday weekend reading for you about how the game has changed into this boring version we watch now.  The article has lots of fawning over Keith Hernandez, so I think you will like it.

Even the great Rusty Staub, a superb outfielder for many years before becoming the pinch-hitting extraordinaire for the New York Mets at the end of his career, would not merit a roster spot in today’s game. Not versatile enough. No matter how much he could hit. It’s debatable if he could’ve been a DH in the American League today. And Le Grand Orange, as fans called him in Montreal when he played there, was not only a threat at the end of his career, but he was pure electricity at key moments in the game, fr

Mets Police Morning Laziness: Mets will only get 10 hours sleep before tonight’s game

Oh man, life in the Bigs is so hard.  Delta Flight 888 did not get into Los Angeles until 11:10pm last night!  Figure a good three hours until you’re in the 5 start hotel and settled.  That’s 2:10.  Now you sleep what, say 10 hours and roll out of ed at noon.  Then you only have two hours to get to the ballpark by 2 for the 5pm game where they expect you to stand on grass in ten minute shifts and bat every 45 minutes.  Can you imagine?

SLACKISH REACTION:   Gotta hand it to Mickey and the Mets, you play who they tell you and they racked up a bunch of wins.  That was exactly the issue the week before.  I have downgraded the Mickey Watch to a Mickey Watch Watch.

Wags is very excited….wait until he finds out the Mets aren’t at home this week

What’s with all the HRs at Citi?

Other than that, it’s another quiet morning and another morning of me up and early to drive 2+ hours to a soccer game, and no I did not get 10 hours sleep.

NOT LINKING: I will let all the unoriginal sites field the John Oliver Was At Citi Field And Says He Couldn’t Be A Yankees Fan stuff.

What’s going on at Citi Field? Mets are really sockin’ the ball; knocking those home runs over the wall!

Hi, long time Mets watcher of games at Citi Field.  You probably are too.

What is going on?

Why is Citi Field suddenly a home run park?   I’m genuinely curious.

Whatever happened to Citi Field being the place where power numbers come to die?

Could there be new construction in Corona or Flushing messing with the wind patterns?

Could the theory that the balls are different be causing this?

`Did the Mets just get a bunch of Murderer’s Row types who were trapped in AAA and only Wags saw their brilliance?  Even if he exiled Rajai Davis, one of the HR hitters?

I’m genuinely curious.

Mickey Watch downgraded to Mickey Watch Watch as Callaway’s Mets win 6 of 7

Now that the Mets are the greatest team in baseball, I am downgrading the Mickey Watch to a Mickey Watch Watch.

For newer readers, a Mickey Watch Watch is when I watch to see what others are saying about a possible Mickey Watch.

Given the Mets had a great homestead Mickey appears to be safe for now.

Congratulations to Mr. Callaway for having a fine week of managing the Mets to an unbelievable streak of clutch home runs.
