Mets Police Morning Laziness: Mets fish, stereotypes perpetuate, Wilpons fail

SLACKISH REACTION: Man is it time to blog again already? Maybe I should start a $5 pay site like Yahoo is doing lol.

I’m still kinda annoyed at The7Line and the Mets in general.  But hey who cares about perpetuating stereotypes, right?

You can never have enough second basemen in the Wagsiverse.

The Mets went fishing, no Donald Trump Jr. this time.  Shouldn’t the Mets be working out and watching game films like Matt Harvey?  If MH did this…

Ten Years Ago, Jerry Manuel named Murph his LFer.

The Wilpons Failed again!

The Mets will play in Port. St Lucie long after Bonilla stops getting those annual checks.

What do you think about an idea for MLB Pride Weekend?

The Alarm will only play 1B

Mickey Hodges is playing music for the baseball players practices.

Hahaha Yahoo and the Mets think we’re going to pay to read articles on a pay site

This is quite the laugh.  Good luck with this.  I’m gonna add in some bold so you know exactly which parts I am making fun of.

According to the report Yahoo is starting the Queens Baseball Club (wait until the Queens Baseball Convention guys hear this.)

It will include three writers covering the team, while planning to give members a behind-the-scenes experience, such as access to batting practices, press conferences and front office Q&As.

The team and Yahoo have a three-year agreement, according to sources. (Via NY Post)

And one of those writers is reported to be Wallace Matthews.  Call me when Rubin unretires.  Actually call me anyway, I’ll sell out in a second.

This mess starts March 28th and will be $4.99 or $5.99 a month.

Mickey Hodges: Dom ‘The Alarm’ Smith will only play 1B for Mets

Big news for The Alarm.  Mickey Hodges says Dom will only play first base this spring.

Dom, as you know, was the Mets can’t miss hitting prospect who hit for power in Las Vegas.   These days he’s just some guy who is #3 on the 1B depth chart behind Lyin’ Todd Frazier (Sad) and some other can’t miss hitting prospect who hit for power in Las Vegas that Mets fans have penciled in for MVP.  Which reminds me, anyone heard from Ike Davis?

I still believe in you Alarm.

Mickey Hodges’ New Mets Culture 2.0 Includes Music

The Mickey Mafia is back in business….amazingly at the Daily News whose sports section is a hugely staffed as Mets Police’s is.  From that source, this link.

Mickey Callaway took the advice of Mets camp coordinator Rich Donnelly, former Seattle Mariners third base coach, and made the decision to blare music at the First Data Field grounds during workouts.

I think the real question is finding out how Manager In Waiting Jim Riggleman feels about music.

Ten Years Ago: Lunatic Manager Hands Murphy The LF Job – And I Love It

With the blog being in its 11th season I have plenty of old posts to recycle…so on Tuesday I bring you a Ten Years Ago post. Here’s one from 2/22/09 and it looks like I’m pretty jazzed about this kid Jerry Manuel is planning on playing in left field.

As it would turn out, Murphy would only play 27 games in LF, and would get 101 games in at first.  He’d miss the entire 2010 season due to injury because he got taken out learning second base so some hotshot prospect named Ike Davis could play first.  The media is very hot on Ike, keep an eye on him.  And now from 2009…..

….

Jerry isn’t messing around!

Daniel Murphy will be the Mets every day left fielder.

What’s that you say?  This guy was basically promoted from Double-A last year and the Mets have yet to play even an inning of spring training?   Jerry doesn’t care what you think.

“I’ve seen it. I’m confident. The way he swings the bat I’m confident that he can handle that. I don’t have a problem with that.”

Since Manny Ramirez isn’t coming, this is a good thing.  I’d rather hope we get 15 years out of Murph in left rather than one year out of someone from the leftover pile like Tatis.

I love what a maniac Jerry is.   He’s wonderfully entertaining.   I kind of want to see him actually stab someone for not running out a ball.

What does everyone think of these jerseys?  If the Mets insist on incorporating black (and that they do) these aren’t bad.   I’m not crazy about the orange underarms, but they aren’t as hideous as the all black were.
