"Earlier" Start Times For World Series

I guess it’s better than nothing….

“We are working with baseball and I think we all have the same agenda,” said Fox Sports president Ed Goren. “And this is to get to first pitch more efficiently than we have in the past. We are continuing to have discussions to make that happen.”

Although Goren declined to provide specifics, an industry source to told the newspaper that the plan could call for the first pitch to be thrown between 7:50 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. ET. That would be about 30 minutes earlier than in recent seasons.

7:59 is better than 8:29 but these are not the start times we are looking for.   It sucks when you watch your team all year and have to fall asleep during the playoffs.

Don’t whine to me about California, more than 50% of the US population lives in the eastern time zone, and I’d rather miss the first inning than the 9th.  Plus it’s easier to sneak the game/tape the game/listen on the radio/follow on the web, than it is to stick toothpicks under your eyes at 12:35am.   Remember those classic 11pm first pitches for Diamondbacks-Mets?

While we’re talking start times, a pox on the Padres for not playing the Mets at 4:05 Monday.
