Roster moves, stress fractures and an empty ballpark

Dr. Roto explains that stress fractures sound scarier than they are. I personally worry when it comes to the Mets and injuries.

ESPN’s box score has last nights attendance as 23,721. I’m going to guess that’s bad.

And, because I like the “Rule of Three”, ESPN has all of last night’s roster moves – Tejada up, Beato back, and Iggy and Hu sent down. It is expected Wright will DL today and be replaced by Nick Evans.

    1. The 23,721 number is tickets sold. The weather killed the walk-up, but there clearly wasn’t a big demand for Monday night Mets vs. Marlins.

We’re not going to see big crowds again this year except for the Subway Series & maybe weekend Phillies games. But it’s probably not good when “tickets sold” falls below 25,000.

      1. expected attendence was 23000, but i’m sure unless this DL stuff absolutely destroys the team, we’ll see 35+ with some regularity for games in the summer.

  1. 23,721 paid is only the third worst ticket number of the season. Second worst of the month.

The ticket sales are averaging 28,869 through 19 ticket dates. Projects out to 2.3 million for the 80 ticket dates this season (1 ticket date lost to weather)

  2. sure nothing beats being at the ball park.
in todays economic times being able to watch pretty much every home game on t.v is hurting attendance…i have not heard SNY and wpix complain about ratings.

    1. The Mets are averaging 3,000 less ticket sales per game when compare to the first 19 ticket dates last season.
I think it is very reasonable to conclude that the weather significantly effected the draw.
