1986 Newspapers: NLCS Game 2

For some reason – not even a guess why – my Mom did not save any paper from Game 1 of the 1986 NLCS.  It’s the one gap in her coverage (meanwhile she had multiple copies of other games).

Anyway, we now jump to Game 2 of the NLCS.  First up the Daily News.  I’ve been noticing that the News liked to put fans pictures on the cover for a lot of these games.

The Post on the other hand introduces George Steinbrenner’s column on their front page, as well as the Mets flag designed by artist Paul Rigby that was subsequently flown in both Houston and Boston, as well as at NY’s City Hall.

  1. I taped all the playoff games in 1986…if the Mets lost, I would tape over the game…I figured why would I want to watch a loss over again? So I do have both game 6’s and game 7. Maybe your Mom threw the paper out since they lost.
