Seaver endorses Hodges’ Golden Era ballot candidacy – New York Baseball History | Examiner.com

“If you put together how important he was to the Brooklyn Dodgers … how important he was to the integration of blacks in the game of baseball … that’s a big social issue,” Seaver said. “[If] you combine his playing career, his defensive career, his managing career, his offensive career, hitting in the middle of that lineup … the characteristics that he carried and the respect that he had for the game and his overall picture, he definitely in my estimation belongs in the Hall of Fame.”

  1. Great job Franchise. Now, where is Fred “Brooklyn Dodger” Wilpon on this issue? Not only is this logically and morally right, but it would be a great PR and business benefit to the NY Mets if Gil Hodges gets into the HOF on the eve of the 50th celebration. His Cooperstown plaque will include words to this effect:

“His feat of guiding the New York Mets to a world title in 1969 ranks as one of the most remarkable managerial accomplishments of all time.”

I hope to see Mr. Wilpon and his baseball people all over this in the media. Dec 4-5 is the vote. You are correcting some uniform travesties, now help correct this one.
