Marathons, the Queens Baseball Convention and other outstanding items

Hi it’s Shannon. Remember me? Yeah I didn’t go anywhere but also haven’t been able to dive in on the blog as much as normal for the last month or so since I was in the final stages of training for the NYC Marathon.

That was an absolutely amazing experience and don’t ask me about it unless you want to hear me go on and on for an hour.  Thanks to everyone who supported the fundraiser.  That really meant a lot to me, from those of you who I have met and hopefully this doesn’t sound rude but even more so to those who I have not met.  It means a lot that someone gives a hoot, and maybe some dogs will have a nicer life than the crappy hand they were dealt. So I sincerely thank you all.

So a lot of my blogging has been quick thoughts or “easy” posts (hey let me see what’s on ebay…) and not the usual longer writing and musing.  But now I have way more free time and don’t have to dump stuff on Media Goon as much (even though that’s fun).  Plus @dtwohig and @verceman have been writing so that helps me a lot.

Which brings us to the QBC…

QBCIt has been a challenge working a real job, being a dad, training for a marathon in the dark, keeping a blog up, and then squeezing in some time to work on QBC (and dumping a lot of that on Goon).  Anyway, now we have a date and a place – January 18th at McFadden’s Citi Field.

Some questions have popped up on twitter….

No this isn’t a booze cruise.  The QBC is to be a celebration of baseball in Queens.  We plan on having some panels, some awards (I am so excited about what Greg Prince is up to), some interactive fun trivia stuff. merch tables. signings, and a dunk tank.  If you wish to have a beverage one is available, but if your mission is something other than a fun day with fellow baseball fans then I suggest you hang at McFadden’s on a different night where you can let your hair down.

You’re looking for particulars.  We have a lot of things at various stages of completion.  It was challenging to lock things in without the when and where.  Now we have that.

Soon we will announce an agenda, and the price of admission.

There appears to be a lot of excitement for this.  In the meantime. we welcome suggestions and questions and we’ll answer them the best we can as we go along.  Follow @qbc14 on twitter
