Uni Watch recap of The Greatest Discussion of Mets Uniforms of All Time

Phil Hecken (weekend Uni Watch guy) recapped the Uni Panel.  I was running around doing logistics so I didn’t get to “attend it” and I was the guy who hooked it after 70 minutes (allotted for 60) when it was still going strong.  Believe me that killed me, but I also didn’t want to be rude to Mark Simon and RotoExperts who were scheduled in the space.  So if you like Mets Uniforms read Phil’s recap…oh and here’s something STUNNING

Todd had a BIG surprise for the audience, which even the Mets weren’t aware of — he’d found an archived article from The Sporting News that noted the original Mets logo might very well have ended up being rendered in PINK AND BLACK

I’ll give the page hits to Uni Watch.  If you want to see Mets in PINK AND BLACK and also the Swoosh jersey making a 1961 appearance…click the link!

One other thing that was surprisingly fun was The Jersey Parade.  While originally designed as “let’s walk from one end of the bar to the other” it turned into me-as-Joan-Rivers critiquing everyone’s jersey choices and fonts, while Paul stood-by offering professional (translate that as “less jerky”) observations.  Man I have become a Uni Snob.

Anyway, the “winner” was a backward Mets jersey – perhaps the one below or one similar (my doubt is that in this pic the blues don’t match and I think we would have flagged that) – because in the mirror it looks correct.  Hey, it made sense on the fly.

It was also surprising to see quite a few Mercury Mets jerseys.   I did several costume changes (never got to the 1987 Seaver) and when I was wearing the Merc a few people were like WTF is that?

There was talk of having a photo of all the Mercury Mets but we never did that.  I guess I will have to make that a formal thing on the QBC15 lineup.

Lots of fun…go read Phil’s recap, and MUCH MUCH THANKS to all the folks on the Uni Panel.
