I got this a few days ago and haven’t been home to post it, but this is cool.

You may not know her name but Shannon Forde is a really awesome member of the Mets’ media relations crew and just a super person to be around.  One of my favorite people in the world.  Congrats!

…the Irish American Baseball Hall of Fame (IABHOF) has announced that it will induct five new members into the Hall on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, in its 8th annual ceremony at Foley’s Pub & Restaurant (18 W. 33rd St.) in New York City.

The honorees for this year’s class are:

· Popular comedic actor Bill Murray, an owner of several minor league baseball teams
· Five-time All-Star first baseman Mike Sweeney, former captain of the KC Royals
· Jack McKeon, a two-time NL manager of the year, who led the Florida Marlins to a surprising World Series title in 2003
· Dave O’Brien, an ESPN TV sportscaster who also call games for the Boston Red Sox Radio Network.
· Shannon Forde, a longtime member of the New York Mets p.r. staff – and the first female inductee into the Irish American Baseball Hall of Fame

Additionally, KC Royals bench coach Don Wakamatsu, the son of an Irish American and Japanese American parents, will receive the second annual Pete Caldera-Duke Castiglione “I Didn’t Know He Was Irish” Award, which goes to individuals in baseball whose Irish roots are not widely known.
