Most Popular Articles On Mets Police (Labor Day Weekend Edition)

Hello there – for you newbies, on Sunday I recap the most popular articles from the week and those that deserved better for some reason didn’t strike anyone’s fancy at the time.   Thanks always to Metsblog (hey Matt I saw you moved Mets Police up on the links, big thanks!), Amazin Avenue and the other sites that send traffic over here.   I’ll republish the list of Cool Mets Blogs tomorrow as I usually do on holidays…but here’s the July 4th version if you can’t wait.

Can anyone tell me why the Mets don’t play on Labor Day?  If you want to go on Wednesday you can get seats for a buck fifty as of 9:45 this morning!

The Post says Citi Field has mold and water damage issues.   I like the new web design the NY Post has….their site had always been annoying to read.  There’s a cleaner look on there now.  Newsday has headed in the other direction.  Their website is really bizarre now…hard to read.   Incidentally they are owned by Cablevision who are The Dolans who own the Knicks, Rangers and the Garden…so before you kick Fred & Jeff out the door be careful what you wish for.

I have proven to all that the 1978 Mets were better than the September 2009 Mets...and that’s not good.

David Howard went on TV and says the Mets are doing well financially, so I expect three new starters, a left fielder and a statue of Tom Seaver in 2010.

Speaking of David…he had mentioned that the Mets had done extensive research:

“In our ongoing effort to serve our fans, we proactively sought their feedback – through direct dialogue and e-mail, and via online and in-person research,” said Dave Howard, Executive Vice President, Business Operations, New York Mets. “These new enhancements are a direct result of that communication and are designed to make the Citi Field experience even more exceptional.”

Since I posted that, I have been looking for anyone who was part of that research to contact me and let me know what was asked.   There have been over 40,000 unique visitors to this site since, and not one has let me know they were part of the survey.  I find that odd because when they did the uniform survey I had a bunch of people send it to me almost immediately.  That’s sure strange isn’t it?  If you were part of the survey please email me at [email protected] because I’d like to take a picture of you standing next to my unicorn.

The Mets should create a ticket exchange policy for plan holders.

You may wish to get the Last Days of Shea book.

You would look cool in one of these 1969 Mets Jerseys or an I’m Calling It Shea t-shirt.

This fan wants you to boycott the final Mets game.

I dug Bitter Bill’s history of Mets uniforms. Uniwatch is awesome and revisited the good ol’ Mercury Mets.  Could the Mets move to Mercury right now and I’ll take one of those replacement expansion teams like the new Cleveland Browns or the 1961 Senators?

I had tons of fun dissecting this Citi Bank / Mets ad – and you guys did too!  Looks to my eyes like the Mets and Citi couldn’t be bothered to use actual Citi Field in their ad.

The Mets are selling more fan bricks which I told you weeks ago.  Yours could be here!

Anyone else had it with annoying commercials on baseball radiocasts?

This Mets-opoly parody is awesome.  No, like really awesome.  Go look.

You can now bring a bag into Yankee Stadium which is actually big news if you have a job.

Sad picture collection of Yankee Stadium (1976) being torn down.

Bob Glauber on Twitter told me that the Jets don’t expect to have their games blacked out in NYC – but since they aren’t sold out yet I’m not sure.  Since I hate the Jets I kinda hope they are.  In case you are wondering why I hate the Jets, it is for subjecting me to endless boring 4pm games in the days before Directv when you’d hear something like “coming up, the undefeated Cowboys take on the undefeated 49ers, except in New York” and we’d get Jets-Chargers on NBC.
