An idea from Jesse:
Hi here’s an idea to pass on to the site. You know the yankees have (has) that big bat in front of the stadium and many fans used as a meeting place. Mets should set up a eight foot wide outfield wall replica exactly where the 410 foot centerfield wall was at shea. Could be a meeting place and maybe a concession area. Also be another nice marker of shea. What you think?
I like it. Â Anything that remembers team history is cool. Â I’d like to meet at the Seaver statue, but I wouldn’t mind meeting you at the 410. Â What’s everyone think?
it sounds kinda goofy, but the 410 marker is really near the 3B side ticket window. that stairwell next to the ticket window is in line with HP, the mound, 2B, and 410 from Shea, and probably only a few more feet back.
It’s an idea. I don’t know if the location is a great one. Trying to visualize it and it’s probably right in that ‘road’ just to the left of the rotunda. Probably right across from the ticket windows. I guess that’s not a horrible spot, if you’re not gonna meet at the bar.
That bat’s gone, or on it’s way out, at Yankee Stadium isn’t it? In fact, I met my uncle there for a Sox game last year, not a great place to meet people anyway. just sorta a “near gate 4”.
A statue of Cleon Jones squeezing the last out of ’69 would be a nice touch too. 🙂
Yes old Yankee Stadium had the bat, but CitiField has a bunch if meeting spots. Let’s me by the tire fire; let’s meet by the stop eminent domain banner; let’s meet by the pool of shattered dreams tears; let’s meet by the 2009 mets nl east champion banner; let’s meet @ the entrance to the Mets Hall of Fame; let’s meet by the hospital for special surgery express bus; let’s meet by the Think Blue sign; let’s meet by the johnny podres statue; let’s meet where the Sym-phony plays; let’s meet & kneel before the Jackie Robinson altar.

Meet me at The Apple… the only problem is that section is usually closed off before the game…
