Another Mets tickets pre-sale: this one is “Deal of the month!”

This photo is taken from the Mets recent efforts to contact this lost Amazon tribe.  The tribe is believed to be the last remaining people on Earth who have not received a pre-sale code. The leader of the tribe thinks the Mets need pitching and will wait to purchase tickets.

This came to be me via e-mail today (not sure if I should give out your name sir):

This was emailed to Citi Employees earlier today.  What a deal, just 1 day after all Flushing Flash members get their opportunity…  Yes, Citi did lead with “deal of the month” and, no, I don’t believe they meant it sarcastically.

Deal of the month:  Purchase your 2010 Mets single-game tickets before the general  public with this exclusive pre-sale opportunity for Citi Employees. The pre-sale begins on March 4 at 10:00am and continue until March 5 at 11:59pm. There is a 12-ticket limit per game for all games except Opening Day, which has a four-ticket limit.   Employees can place multiple orders for each game in which they need more than 12 tickets. Order tickets here and use code:  (hidden by me). For additional information regarding this opportunity, contact the Mets ticket office at 718-507-TIXX.

I’m glad that MLB won’t allow my MLB pressbox access (a page on a website, not an actual press box) and the Mets are doing a good job keeping this information from making its way here to Mets Police.   It would be silly to just let me have access to information insiders are sending anyway.   Why be friends when we can play our silly game?

To re-cap…pre-sales have been for season holders, 15 game holders, Stubhub users, Citi Field employees, and Flushing Flash subscribers (which is just about anyone whoever logged in to Mets.com, say because they bought tickets).

Scott tells me that today’s pre-sale is also for “former plan holders” – I am one of those, I don’t think I got that communication but then again I (was suckered into) bought a 6 game plan to guarantee the opener (can’t lead the Blue Cap Army if I am not there) and there’s no other game I really want. My purchases this year will be “hey Junior, feel like going today?”  I’m confident I will be able to get in.

Why I don’t post codes: I know some folks are visiting here looking for pre-sale codes.  I have decided that it’s uncool to post them.   My job is to convince the Mets to act honorably, and if they don’t want everyone to know the code, I don’t think it’s my place to post it.  Plus it is unfair to those who have earned the code to have other people swooping in.

In 2009 many of the pre-sale codes were player names.   As for tomorrow’s pre-sale, I’ll ask you if you believe in codes.

The amazonian tribe will be able to purchase tickets on Sunday at 10am when they go on-sale to everyone who doesn’t have a code.

Thanks to everyone who has sent in items…submissions and guest-posts always welcome at [email protected]   That’s where the Mets can reach me as well.

  1. Ha. Hopefully I can find a moment to buy tickets at 10 today. (Opener, Magnetic Schedule Day, Pyrotecnics, hall of fame)

I didn’t get a plan holder email either, held one in ’07-’08. I wonder what the availability really will be. I’ll mostly be looking for Prom Infield for these anyway, except the schedule day, which i’m going to alone. Cheap seat, wander the park.

  2. Just picked Promenade Infield seats for Opening Day and HOF day. The rest of the season I’ll buy as we go along…

I’m happy though… I’ll officially be at the Blue Cap Army meet up!

  3. Ceetar – Prom Infield is gone for the Opener. Those are my favorite seats too.

I was just on, window shopping, and this is a thought I just had, since we are always talking about how this is always in the end just a business. Well, I now realize that I was STUPID for buying the Opener Pack for 1 game I wanted, plus 5 I don’t for really bad seats, when if I had just waited, I would have gotten the one game I wanted, for really good seats. So, fool me once, shame on you, but fool me twice…not so fast! Next year, how many people are gonna pony up for these 6-packs? How about the Premium 4-Pack? What for? So, barring the team makes the playoffs this year, next year the Mets have just killed their Season/Plan/Pack sales. Think long-term… offering the Opener without the lottery and a pre-sale to everyone from a business sense is bad. For a fan…its great (too bad I didn’t take advantage of it). Next year…expect incentives for a Plan/Pack…such as a real discount for being loyal. Finally, the tide may be changing back towards the fan…at least a little bit.

  4. Aaguero, as you can see most of their plan sales from last year were gone anyway. You were one of the few holdovers and most if not all from last year downgraded the amount of games. There is literally 0 benefit to buying a pack from the Mets. You pay the same price (if not more) than you would game by game, seeing as how they announced discounts last year as the season went along. You don’t get to choose the games you want. You don’t get to choose the seats you want (4 pack). So what exactly are you getting besides guaranteeing yourself the same seat (which very well may be obstructed and not listed and possibly a playoff presale?

I think you’re right in that things may be turning back in favor of the fans. Im curious to see what the Giants and Jets come up with, seeing as how they are in similar boats.

  5. You save a little on fees actually, with the plans, but yeah, there has never been a ton of benefit to them.

As far as sales go, apparently the Mets have been doing okay. I was able to find a four-pack for ~$300 total when they went on sale, I went back in now and I ended up with $1800. So a bunch of those seats must’ve sold.

I ended up in Promenade Box for Opening Day. 424. Not horrible, not exactly my favorite place (that place where the stadium seats curve around the pole. I’m in row three so I’ll be fine view wise though.

Going to the game 4/9 alone for the magnetic schedule. Will roam the park at will. Also bought to pyrotechnics (prom INF) and hall of game (pepsi porch)

  6. You don’t save on the fees because you have to pay some absurd shipping price, which is eliminated with single game prices.

  7. not a lot on fees, but you do save. I remember the fees when I got the 15 game pack in ’07 and ’08 and it was definitely less than buying those 15 games seperately (although maybe not less than buying them all together, given the ‘order charges’) I dunno, it’s still not much.

  8. Just realized my Opener tickets (prom. infield) are in the top row (sec 521, row 17). Anyone ever sat that high? View ok? Last year I got lucky and was never past row 7 or 8 up there.

  9. Ceetar, thanks. Truth be told, I never really cared how bad my seats were at Shea, but with these new ticket prices, paying 41 bucks (35 plus 6 dollar fee) for the last row feels kind of steep. Still, it’s Opening Day and I’ll be there with a huge smile on my face.

  10. Also… since the Mets charge a premium for the first two rows of levels nowadays (Ceaser’s Club Platinum, Promenade Club Gold, etc…) maybe they should offer a lower price for the last two rows of the stadium!

    Doubtful!

  11. 525 Row 16, you will not be able to see much of left field. Those are right next to where my package was last year,

    I got pepsi porch 504.

  12. Eric

My 15 game plan last year was 512, row 14. They actually were pretty good seats…right behind home plate (which is my preference) and the higher up you go, the least amount of obstructed views that you have. Do you know that you can’t even see home plate from inside the Promenade Club? That was a huge disappointment for me. (Never sat in the last row though, 2nd to last for a playoff game at Shea once)

  13. @scott….i was in sect 534 last year with my plan…so I got used to the fact that in Queens we only field 8 positions. I haven’t been to an opening day since the 90’s. More then likely I will end up downstairs in the standing areas.

  14. Media goon, dunno how much SRO type watching you do, but it’s actually better to do so in the Promenade. The seats are sloped more, you can often lean against the stairwells without being in anyone’s way, It’s less crowded, and you get more of a bird’s eye view.

Downstairs you end up leaning left and right with the other 50 people at each standing room area trying to see the field. (although the OF/Bridge areas are really good watching spots if you can snag a spot there.

  15. Didn’t get pre-sale info from Mets (I guess because I downgraded from 15 pack to 6 pack, but had 4 seats in each and had various packages for last 11 years.) Wasn’t too hard to figure out code though. Got tickets in Philly for Mets (their ticket plans/office are light years ahead of my bumbling Mets marketeers. In fact, within 3 days had actual tickets in hand through mail from Philly.

    1. Without dissing other teams, I do find the Phillies do usually have an efficient ticket system. They did experience website delays on the day their tickets went on sale.

  16. The Phillies and the Mets (I’m 99% sure) use the same system. What they do after the information is through the system is another story (in terms of mailing the tickets, but I’ve always gotten my Mets tickets fairly fast)
