  1. That’s what I figured, because i was 99% sure they confirmed that the existing Orange line will simply be straightened there, only remove the panel in front of the Apple.

  2. The whole wall will be lowered to the lower set of padding panels (8ft), it will then be the same height as the bullpen fence. I suspect the panels will actually remain in place in front to the HR Apple, with a possible orange line running between the lower and higher panels. The “HR Apple” give away on opening day is likely a good representation of what it will look like

  3. The info in Ceetar’s link is contradictory. It starts off saying the wall will be lowered “from 16 feet to eight feet in front of the Home Run Apple” then it says the height of the existing wall on either side of the apple is 10 feet, 10 inches. It also quotes the Mets official saying only area directly in front of the apple will be affected. Those three statements are impossible to reconcile.

If only the apple box is being modified, then the new height there has to be 10’10” not 8′. If they’re putting a 8′ stripe the whole way across, then by definition, the entirety of center field is affected. The only way everything stated in that story can be true is if they’re making a mark at the apple where home runs can hit over 2 feet lower than in the rest of centerfield!

  4. This post actually says there is no mark.

    And there isn’t.

That last paragraph was likely an edit (and that’s how I recall the news coming out that day too). I’d put my money on it being a uniform 10’10” foot wall all the way across.
