Apple of the day goes to Sparks for mocking up the rumored 2011 Mets jersey. What I am hearing is that they are considering removing the piping from the white pinless jersey.
There has been some confusion, folks who read Metsblog and Mets Police were asking, apparently Cerrone’s phrasing made it seem the piping would be removed from the black jerseys. Â I don’t know what Matt heard or meant, but the way I heard the story is that the piping would come off the whites….which is making some people use the D—–s word but I would use it because I’m still giddy about the museum. Â The word rhymes with Buck Rogers, get your mind out of the gutter.
And, speaking of uniforms – here’s another teaser from Tuesday’s guest article from Brian. Â Brian related a conversation he had during the offseason with a Mets Marketing Executive I am calling Casey. Â I will publish the article on Tuesday morning. Â Until then, I entice you…
Based on (Casey’s) comments about the black, essentially saying it sells well, but it doesn’t seem to be because of their overwhelming loyalty to the black color, I asked if (Casey) thought a blue alternate jersey may be a good avenue to explore? (Casey’s) response was a resounding….
Cliffhanger!
The mock-up reminds me of the 78-82 pullovers, but without the pins. Or, I guess more accurately, the 78-81 road unis, but in white
That was precisely the idea, FDD. Consider this design a move back to the future.
Yeah I thought the same thing – they look like the late 70s pullovers which was not a good look. However I want to get a late 70s road Mazzilli 16 just because.
I like the move to ditch the piping on the snow whites. But I actually wish they /were/ getting rid of the piping on the black jersey. The blue-on-black look really gets me for some reason.
@Laurence. I think many of us feel blue and black just don’t look good togther. That’s the problem with the ny logo on the hybrids.
Um, given the fact that they’re not getting rid of black, wouldn’t there be a black shadow on the Mets logo across the chest and also, possibly, black on the sleeve bands too?
The drop shadow on the script is still there.
