Torre returns? Good numbers available

I’m running out the door, but Subway Squawkers comments on ESPN’s Buster Olney’s floating of the idea of Torre in Flushing in 2011.

I will observe that #6 is assigned to Nick Evans and Torre’s old #9 is assigned to Omir Santos so I bet Joe will be able to get his choice of number.

    1. He was wearing Mets pinstripes, as a player & manager (& player/manager, long before he ever sat in the home dugout in the Bronx.
In fact, it would be great to see him complete his managerial career where it started, with the Mets..

      1. I wonder if Joe is what the 2011 Mets would need. Right this second it’s not a media circus, and I wonder if a hands-off style is right for this team. However, hard to argue with Joe’s recent resume, and the media would eat it up except Michael Kay.

  1. No to Joe in any year. If we’re to go “back” to the future, it should be with Bobby V.
