New York baseball legend Keith Hernandez will be on hand to greet everyone who stops at Amalgamated Bank’s branch in Flushing to take a crack at winning $100,000.
The Amalgamated branch at 158-11 Harry Van Arsdale, Jr. Ave., where it intersects with Parsons Boulevard, in Flushing will host the Break the Bank event. The fun begins at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 5 and will continue until 1:30 p.m. Anyone who is 18 years of age or older will get one chance to enter a five-digit code on the vault’s keypad. The first person who enters the correct series of five numbers wins all the money.
As a special bonus, Hernandez, who is a multiple Gold Glove winner and World Series Champion, will pose for a photo with each person who visits the branch. The photo is a keepsake that each person can take home.
In addition, Flushing Branch Manager Kathleen Kaufmann will hold a drawing for prizes that include baseballs and bats autographed by Hernandez, who is now an Emmy award-winning TV sports broadcaster in New York City. The former All-Star first baseman will also sign his name on one sports memento for each fan who comes to the event. The branch will also raffle off tickets to a major league baseball game, a MP3 player and a case of All-Natural Popchips™, which will be provided by the event’s co-sponsor, Popchips. Light refreshments will be available. To complete the experience, WFAN-The Fan radio station will bring its Fan Van crew to the Break the Bank event and will provide giveaway items.
