Fitness and Nutrition Day at Citi Field

I thought of the same trainers jokes you did. Be nice. That was 2009. In 2010 the trainers are cool guys that help diagnose knee problems.

METS TEAM UP WITH ALLIANCE FOR A HEALTHIER GENERATION AND PIX11
FOR FITNESS & NUTRITION DAY THIS THURSDAY, JUNE 10 AT CITI FIELD

FLUSHING, N.Y., June 8, 2010 – The New York Mets, in conjunction with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a joint initiative of the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation, and PIX11 today announced the annual Fitness & Nutrition Day will take place at Citi Field this Thursday, June 10 prior to the Mets hosting the San Diego Padres at 1:10 p.m.

More than 5,000 students from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut will be treated to a one-hour educational program designed by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s empowerME Movement emphasizing at least 60 minutes of exercise a day and eating right. The empowerME Movement is a “by kids, for kids” initiative inspiring children to eat healthier, move more and be leaders in the fight against childhood obesity. To date more than 2.3 million kids have joined the Movement.

The program starts at 11:00 a.m. and will feature a video message from President Bill Clinton.

PIX11’s Dr. Steve will talk to students about leading a healthy lifestyle, and will broadcast live from Citi Field during the “PIX Morning News” starting at 6:00 a.m.

Mets Assistant Trainer Mike Herbst and Physical Therapist John Zajac will talk to students about how they lead the team in stretching and exercise drills, and help players prevent and recover from injuries. Mr. Met will also be on hand to entertain students and fire t-shirts into the crowd. At the conclusion of program, the students will stay at the ballpark to watch the game.
