Most Popular on Mets Police (July 11)

Hey, what’s with that new header image at the top of the blog? It’s the image I will be using for 70’s week.   Randy from The Apple sent it over, and I’m not sure what’s that 70’s about it, the car isn’t for sure but there was sometihng about the color scheme and the picture of Officer Mazzilli that inspired me – and since the All star break tends to be quiet, I thought 70’s week would be fun.   I’ll try to teach the Piazza Generation a thing or two about losing in style.   That kicks off tomorrow.

There were rumors on twitter yesterday (from reliable people) that the 2011 season will open in San Juan against the Marlins. The Marlins have denied this.

Let’s take a look at what was popular over the last week or so, including some that got lost in the July 4th weekend.

MLB is allowing you to put a deposit down right now on playoff tickets for 29 of the 30 teams (the Yankees being the 30th).  Feel like gambling $10 to guarantee yourself a seat? No refunds.

Seriously, watch this video of Banner Day 1984 and tell me it doesn’t make you happy.   There are two generations of kids who deserve to experience this.  2011 being the 50th season of Mets baseball gives Dave Howard a perfect excuse to bring it back.

There is a Mets jersey in the Yankees Museum.

Tom Seaver Day photo.  Speaking of The Franchise, I will have some cool photos of Tom later today.

I feel bad for the Murphy and Santos t-shirts

Howie Rose is the best radio guy in baseball, right?

I waxed poetic about Santana being a man, and I feel the same way about today’s big game.

The Mets are sending a sandwich I have never heard of to the All Star Game

Good story about Welcome Back Veterans

The Stars and Stripes caps looked terrible with black jerseys

Yes Virgina, Bobby Bonilla will get $1 million dollars a year from the Mets until 2035.

If you have any submissions for 70’s week please email them to [email protected]   There are no rules.  A story, a picture, anything 70’s and Mets.

If you’d like to get Mets Police in a free daily email you can, or you can subscribe via Google Reader.

You can now get Mets Police on your Kindle– it’s a 14 day free trial and then it’s $2 a month which is more about how Kindle works than me trying to get $2 out of you – I think I’d see a piece if it, but I’m not trying to get rich off that (that’s what the Donut Chain is for) – just letting you know it exists.
